Fertility revealed by dance
This is scientific, two studies have shown that the menstrual cycle has an impact on the movements of dancers. Women dance best during the period when they are most fertile. Ovulation is not as hidden as one might think : the way a woman moves, even subtly and unconsciously, allows men to determine her fertility status.

# Strippers earn more during peak fertility
In the first [study](http://www.ehbonline.org/article/S1090-5138%2807%2900069-4/fulltext), entitled *Ovulatory cycle effects on tip earnings by lap dancers: economic evidence for human estrus*, psychologist Geoffrey Miller and his team at the University of New Mexico sacrificed themselves for Studying in local strip clubs the effect of the ovulation cycle of **lap dancers** on the level of their tips.
The dancers earned about $ 70 per hour during their fertility peak, compared to $ 35 during their periods and $ 50 for the rest of the time.

# The pill cancels the effect
The contraceptive pill cancels any beneficial effect of the ovulation cycle on the dance. The dancers who took it earned an average of $ 37, with no peak performance, against $ 53 for those who did not. The pill produces hormonal signals in women that indicate the onset of pregnancy, which makes it not an attractive target for potential contenders. The dancers of lap dance under pill would thus lose thousands of dollars each year, concludes the study which, for the anecdote, was awarded the [Ig Nobel prize](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ig_Nobel_Prize) of Economics, a parodic reward, to its three authors.

# Dance ... and also walking
In another [study](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ig_Nobel_Prize), Bernhard Fink and colleagues from the University of Göttingen in Germany filmed 48 female students, aged 19 to 33, dressed and coated in the same way. The video has been modified so that only their silhouette is visible, so that the movements are not parasitized by other judging elements. The girls had to walk to the camera or dance to a song by Robbie Williams, once during their most fertile period, and a second time during their non-fertile period. The video was then shown to 200 students who were to rate each passage according to their attractiveness. **The most fertile women** obtained an average of 2.88 for the dance and 3.31 for the march, while the others obtained 2.72 and 2.98 respectively.

The increase in attractiveness around the ovulation period results from physiological changes which are mainly related to an increase in the level of estrogen. Estrogen has effects on muscle control, performance, tendons and ligaments and therefore on body movements. Gayle Brewer, an evolutionary psychologist, thinks that men, but also women, would thus have the ability to determine the phase of a woman's cycle. For men, it would enable them to identify potential partners, while for women, it would help them to monitor the most serious female competition.
Studies had already suggested that men preferred the voices, smells and even faces of women during their peak fertility. It is now known that the way to dance and walk is also preferred. All you have to do is to hope that your next competitions will take place at the right time!
