1982 Auction Catalog

I got in an old auction catalog today. To most people, this book would be great in the fireplace. But not me!

This auction was put together by Bowers and Ruddy Galleries INC. It took place March 18-20, 1982. Referred to as The Henry H. Clifford Collection. Coins of the American West. 

This auction hosted some incredible western ingots! The coins were also to a high standard. However, that's not my focus. Henry Clifford was one of the biggest "fish" that John J Ford Jr. had. He would sell Henry western ingots and coins that accompanied all the infamous "stories." Henry put a lot of trust into John J Ford. Rightfully so! John was one of the best known numismatisists in the world!

John J Ford Jr. advised Henry when it came to pricing for all of the items he submitted. In fact, John was in New Hampshire during this time. He advised while never having the ingots or coins in hand to personally evaluate. . 

The focus of this auction is exactly where my collecting journey has taken me. Which is why I get fired up talking about this "fire starter" material. Lol
