Good day Steemian welcome to today's Steem price update for 5/1/2020. 
I have been posting the Steem price update since almost the very beginning of Steemit.com.
Many have came here to discuss the daily Steem price's and changes for over 3 years now.

I also want to mention incase your wondering that when something doesn't seem normal from the other regular "Price Updates" that the daily Steem price posts do occasionally change their format from time to time.

But regardless of changes we will carry on as usual and by this I mean knowing the price of Steem as it's important for your daily plan or strategy.
And even if you are not planing to do anything with your Steem I still recommend checking out these updates and so keeping an eye on the price.
So without further ado lets take a look at today's Daily Steem Price change for 5/1/2019.

### Alright crew here we are in 2020, here is wishing you all a Happy New Year. But gosh what a way to start the year having to be in work at 7 in morning after going out for New Years Eve. That's right in the end I made sure work didn't ruin my night out. But obviously paid for it the next day by not being very productive. And when I say not being productive I mean outside of work due to taking a nap later when I got in.

### So I didn't get the chance to announce our starting SP total for the year, but this was not just because of the nap but because I wanted to see this years "Total Steem Power Gained" which I had to wait till the end of the day of course to get those results in. If you don't know it yet my goal for 2020 is to became a double dolphin by reaching 10.000 Steem Power. Now that we know the goal I also want to mention that to celebrate 2020 I brought and added another 40 SP to our already locked away SP total, if you didn't know I have been here for over 3 years and have never powered down once meaning your votes are safe with me and help retain Steem's value. And so together with that added and what's been earned over the year this now gives us a total of.. 

## "7.841 SP" 

### ..to start the year with, and 10.000 being our goal. So if you want to help me jump-start this quest to lock away 10.000 Steem Power and retain more of Steem's value please consider leaving a vote below.

### This year I worked Christmas Eve and what many call boxing day, my only day off was Christmas day which really sucked. While I did have New Years Eve off the 7 in the morning shift wasn't what I wanted.. I'am just glad I had only a sort shift so I could go home early and spent the day recovering which is annoying actually as would rather spend the first day of the year being more productive. So back in 2019 Steem had been going up slightly until Nov 22th when it fell to $0.10 "fault of Bitcoin" falling to around $6580 this marked the new lowest Steem price for 2019. That means in 2020 Steem's lowest is already better then 2019 at $0.12 still it looks the Steem down trend area we are in could continue for another 2 months. You may have already notice we are mostly sticking to a Steem price between $0.12 and $0.14. Which in 2020 is such a great opportunity to buy cheap Steem but my payments were getting declined by the service I used. I contacted the exchange and bank, they investigated further and were infact trying to process my order but it was the company selling the crypto in the first place who were blocking my payments in the first place. I made no sense, I mean what kind of company blocks payments to their business then accuses their customer of being fraudulent without reason or even refused to solve the situation in-any-way? So with no other choice but to try and research somewhere else for a solution to buy more Steem I luckily found a different method right here on Steemit.com. I made a few payments now with no problems. Anyway with Bitcoins it was in October 26th when it last reached $10000 as it's had been mostly stuck between $7850 and $8350 and since then Bitcoins fell surprisingly fast to $6580! On Nov 29th Bitcoins recovered somewhat and as seen around $7300 but going into the new year there as not been much change with bitcoins since Nov 29th. The SBD price also dropped along with Steem and Bitcoins at the moment SBD's as mostly continued dropping slowly with Nov 13th being the lowest followed by Nov 22th but since then SBD's as recovered, but this is only by a tiny amount.
  

### NEW-STEEM Bringing SMT's.

### Steemit INC continue to work hard on bringing us SMT's and communities for 2020, the team are not far off it's scheduled release, it's development is now done. If your curious the whitepaper the most authoritative reference for understanding what SMTs can do for us in 2020. The best way to think of it all is like giving users the ability to create their own Steem-like-tokens but just remember that the formula is locked into consensus so you can’t change it once the SMT has been launched. You could recently test out the Steem communities in the new Steem BETA that was open for everybody, but since then it seems it's passwords have been changed. Still if you are in just be aware anything that you post on the BETA site will be posted on Steemit.com these type of posts come with their community tags only see as for example "hive-169926". Unfortunately with some strict whales out there it's best to be careful when posting test posts. It's silly really the "testing" of things I mean, because if you want to test it's features and add some pressure to the created code you have to yet aware of some whales down-voting you. Also there are many worries about people who got in first taking community names but as you can see from community tags "hive-169926" this is not a problem as you will still be able to get the name's you want for your community regardless of someone else already using the same name for their community. Steemit INC also placed Platform Independent State Files which is a great way to make it easier to move databases into a format that is consistent across many platforms. See as soft consensus is code that is stored on a distributed ledger "like say Steem" this decentralises the code enabling anyone to verify that it is indeed being executed properly. Steemit INC are also involved in the burning of Steem, as right now alot of extra Steem is floating around because of the SBD conversions, also some of the gained rewards goes towards the SteemDAO.
