Reports continue to suggest that more and more drivers are deciding it's in their own interest to fit in a dashcam in their own vehicle.

Not only that but recorded sales of the in-car cameras have been doubling over the past few years.
Some retailers claimed that at one point that it's dashcam sales had risen by something like %104 in the space of one year.
It's also now calculated that more than one in ten on road vehicles now have a fitted dashcam ready in place.

Recorded dashcam footage is already being used to resolve disputes over who is to blame in such situations of dispute by hopefully providing an unbiased viewing of the event.
They certainly can help to reduce the cost of cover and of course offer reassurance when it comes to disputes over the liability of who in the event of an unfortunate accident is guilty.
Basically these dash-cameras are often used as a safety net, a show of strong proof, a tool for the many people out on the road.

And it seems plenty of insurers will now even offer discounts to cars fitted with such road cameras as the insurer will also use the recorded footage to stop activities such as the many fraudulent claims they receive each year.

Now if every car on the road had a dash cam we would certainly see a reduction in fraud as criminals doing this would face real evidence being presented that they can not argue against.
We would also most likely see a benefit in terms of road safety as every driver will know and be worried about their every move being recorded.

And while there are some benefits to being in a surveillance state I feel all this constant monitoring and watching is a breach of privacy that can also be used for the wrong reasons, the much added pressure is unhealthy to our society today but safety continues to be a issue.
