I continue to show you the representatives of the safari park. Today, our hero was the Wreathed hornbill. Bird-rhinos or, as they are called, kalao number 57 species. All of these birds live in Asia and Africa. They are adapted to a variety of natural conditions. And some kalaos live in savannas, others in arid steppes, others in tropical jungles, but the character they judge by our representative is not sugar at all :-)

Kalao belong to the family of birds - rhinoceroses, have a large beak up to 30 centimeters, and live in the crowns of trees of the tropical jungle. The favorite places of these birds are the tops of evergreen trees, where they find a sufficient amount of food all year round. In the park, the kalao lives in a large open-air cage, you would hear what kind of loud sounds he made. They reminded me of a kind of roar, I did not expect this little bird to yell like that. These sounds of kalao keep in touch with each other. Our hero skin on goiter is yellow and not covered with any plumage, they say that when the opponent appears, it is threateningly inflated, like a ball.

However, no one came to his screams, but apparently they do not like the heat, this handsome man sat in the shade all the time, and from time to time he turned his back to the guests of the park. It seemed to me that I was out of sorts that day.

It turns out kalao are different: both bicorn, and Nepalese, and Sulawski, and Indian pies, and wavy, such as ours. Possessing a strong massive beak, they can bite even very hard fruits of ficuses. These birds nest in hollows. In this case, the male smears the entrance to the hollow with clay, cementing it with his saliva, and the female can not fly out until the nestlings grow up.
