# Quote former Facebook exec. Warns of social media dangers what Facebook has created....

Today we live in a world now, where it is easy to confuse truth and popularity. And you can use money to amplify what ever you believe and get people to believe that what is popular is now truthful, and what is not made popular is not be truthful.

These are the words spoken by a former Facebook exec. Who regretted the work he had done for facebook. By working on a system what would enslave the members, in a short term like system, where they get rewarded with a like. The like or comments will activate the reward system in our brain, and will reward the brain with dopamine. What on the end is responsible for the satisfaction feeling, after someone gets rewarded. The problem is not the reward system in our brains, because that's a natural reaction from our brains. It's more that Facebook created a environment, where members get rewarded with a like, what will release dopamine, without getting really rewarded in real life. The like in facebook is a illusion reward, what can determine the value of the information. As a result that it could be difficult to understand what the truth is, or members can easily be misled. What's even wurst that all the private information of members are getting sold to companies, to create ads for the members, with the goal to create even more profit.

Now i can't be certain to say that Facebook was created for that purpose only, it could easily have been growing along in the years, when the company was growing. But the facts are that Facebook is centralized and posts can also be censored.

The real problem is, that the environment around social media what Facebook had created, is some kind of virus in our social system in our society. We all see it around us, how friends and family members are the whole time busy on there phones when they meet. They are either making selfish, or making pics about the situation, about dinner or even wurst, some even creating situations to create pictures, what could be placed on facebook or instagram. It's like a new reality is created in the real reality, but on the same time nobody seems to notice the problem and keep going along with the others.

That all reminded me of a metaphor, what was created by Plato. It's called Plato's cave. You can see it here, but that is the feeling what i have when i see people active on facebook.

The people in the caves are our family and friends, who think that the cave is the reality. They either struggle in real life about anything, or have money problems, or mental problems or just don't know what to do. But on the same time if you ask them to do something else, then they can't leave the cave or the cage, what they only know. Some would rather die then escape the prison of our social media, and it almost looks like that we can't do much about it.

But we can do something about it, yes we can my friends. We Steemians can do something about the Facebook issue. And that start with talking with friends and families in your surroundings, explain them everything about Steemit and tell them, that Steemit is the platform where it's not about being rewarded, and that it's more about expressing your creativity. It can be their personal playground and who ever like there creativity, will give them a real reward, what could really benefit their personal life, pay the bills or reach financial freedom.

And if some still don't agree, then ask them this..... Can Facebook be a platform where they can express there creativity and be rewarded for it? If they say no, then ask why are they on facebook then?

You will see that the masses are on facebook, because others are on facebook, and we Steemians should change the mentality in our reality, and start with the people who are on facebook. And if we manage to get them to Steemit or any other blockchain concept, then the next step to mass adaption of cryptocurrency would not be a bridge to far, and more or less like a small creek to jump over with, just think about.

There are many people who spam selfish, or other nonsense on facebook, while many of them have creative minds or have huge financial problems, or simply don't know what to do. Imagine if they joined Steemit!

So we can wait until governments worldwide come with a stupid rule stop the mass adaption of cryptocurrency, or we can work towards an enviroment where cryptocurrency and Steemit is just as normal as being on facebook.
