Thanks for your comment @slobberchops. These cars are on a fairly steep hill so clearing them away is not an easy task. Besides the challenge of the sloping hill, they are surrounded by trees. There's only a narrow trail to get there, just a few minutes off the road. It's one of the trails that I regularly go to for a hike.

Remote is relative, the location is just outside Mount Shasta, some 10 minutes drive from my home. But Mount Shasta itself is a somewhat remote mountain town, 1 hour from the nearest big town.
