I am very new to crypto. I got together with a friend of mine on December 28th 2017 at a local pub and he was very excited about BitCoin and something called BitConnect.

After a couple of hours, some food and a beer I went away with my head reeling. What was this blockchain thing, Bittrex, Poloniex, mining and god knows what else. The thing he spoke of most however was BitConnect and 1% interest PER DAY!

In a matter of a few days we both had a vested interest in this BitConnect. I went in deeper than him at £700. The days went by and my 'earnings' were up to $940. It was all so cool.

Less than 20 days later, BitConnect was gone. We all know the story, it started with the Cease & Desist orders from the state of Texas and then North Carolina.

I honestly couldn't have gotten 'in' at a worse time.

The thing is there is never a good time to get into these things. If it sounds too good to be true then it is.

Then from the ashes there was BitConnectX. I suppose it still exists. The decentralised exchange that was going to be revolutionary. 

To ease the pain for existing BCC owners, for a limited time you could convert them at a rate of 3-1 to BCCX.

Many took up this offer and I hope if you did it works out. 

I didn't. I got $38 back from my investment. I transferred out my now almost worthless BCC to BTC and got out.

So am I bitter about this? Not at all.

I consider it education and something that I needed to have gone through to learn what to do and what not to do.

My friend lost around £300-400. He looks at it the same way as me.

We both now laugh at our complete idiocy and naivety. Has this put me off crypto currency? Not at all, just not lending platforms or anything that looks like a Ponzi scheme.

Anything a little dodgy looking, whether it be a suspect looking ICO and HYIP is now named 'HeyHeyHeyyyyyy' after Carlos the famous BitConnect 'celebrity'

I still laugh at this video, especially the second 'HeyHeyHeyyyyyy' where his voice gives out. Haha!!
