A Philosophical Enquiry About The Coming Of The 'Saviour'

<p>Africans are religious people. An average African man is always wondering what is beyond the sky. If it rains too much, an average African is worried. If the day is too sunny, an average African is worried. This curiosity and uncertainty about what tomorrow holds might be responsible for why foreign religions were easily accepted by the Africans.</p>

<p>A time came that traditional religion could not answer some very important questions. An average African is always eager to know what tomorrow holds. We also know why psychology claims that the human brain (not mind) does not gives room for vacuum. Once the brain yearn for an answer and none is provided, the brain looks for alternative answer. Once the vacuum is filled, it is hard for such to disturb man again.</p>
<p>Growing up, i heard the coming of the Saviour and i still hear it everyday. Lately, people say: If Jesus tarries - delay His coming, because they are sure He will come soon. I am not here to question the fact that the Saviour is coming back because it is evident in the Holy Book that He will come back. Whether i believe that or not is personal!</p>
<p>The reason for this write-up is to ask: who are people the Saviour is coming for? It is easy for the Christians to quickly answer: everybody! But is that a sincere answer?</p>
<p>Truly, the Saviour said He is coming for everybody but is 'everybody' a believer in His teachings? Do not forget that the first Criterion is to belief in Him and that He is the true son of God. One must belief He is the true son of God and must accept Him as His personal lord and savior.</p>
<p>Now, we have different religions the same way there are different languages. Some of these religions have similarities while many do not. I could remember in my 100 Level days in the University, we did a comparison between Jesus and Budha. Through this comparison, we noticed there are many similarities between Jesus and Budha - they both fasted, tempted, renounced personal family to save the world, etc.&nbsp;</p>
<p>A true believer will disagree with the above on the basis that Jesus was not conceived the same way Budha was conceived, Jesus resurrected but Budha never did, etc. You will be right because these are some of the differences between the two. But how do you convince the world that the Saviour is coming for them?</p>
<p>God understands all the languages we speak and most of these religions are monotheistic in nature. Some are pantheistic in nature, panentheistic in nature, &nbsp;and some are dualistic in nature. In all these differences, how is one religion more true than the other? If you say that the Saviour is coming for the whole world does it make Christianity more superior to others? Do not forget that they must belief in the Saviour first before they can be saved.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Also, the idea of being 'saved' suggests their religions are not the 'true' since they can only be saved by believing in the Saviour. Another question is, can one believe in the Saviour without practicing the religion He subscribes to? I know some would quickly say, but in-genuinely that Christianity is not a religion.&nbsp;</p>
<p>I have heard this many times but none has been able to explain what makes something religion or not. Religion has some tenets, dos and don't, belief in spirituality, Supreme being, miracle, etc which are evident in Christianity.&nbsp;</p>
<p>To call it a way of life is to assume you are referring to how the Saviour lived. But you sure know you cannot live the way He lived! His grace cannot be compared with yours and even if you try to rationalize that, you should also remember time too because we are in the 21st century.</p>
<p>Still on my question, who is the Saviour coming for? The Christians or the world at large? If you say the world, how? Do not forget that some people believe so much in their religion the same way you believe in yours and to them, their religion has brought them closer to 'God'.</p>
<p>Must i be a Christian to be saved? If i am not a Christian, what happens to me or those in other religions? Is believing in the Saviour enough? If yes, why the need for congregation? Do not forget that prayers can be answered in the corners of your homes too.</p>

What one believes is always ultimate no matter the religion. The truth is human was designed to discern between good and evil and it matters that you choose to do good rather than evil. That's the summary of our existence here on earth. Religion is not chosen most times we are born into it. I don't necessarily know the right religion to follow but as an adult now and all I have heard and learnt about Jesus I chose to follow his ways and teachings and **choose good over evil**  So the Saviour is coming for everyone who choose to do good over evil. Nice work, my own believe about the coming of the saviour is that we will discern that he has come. It will not be physical coz the bible says when he comes, all those that pierced  him will beat themselves in lamentation. But they are not alive now. I think rather than worry myself with when he will come or if he will come, i like to work hard to be found finally by him, unblemish, spotless and in peace.
