Ugly Fish Could Be On The Menu. China Life Photography

<h2>Dalian is a seafood city. People all over China recognize it as a place with a variety of fresh fish.</h2>

## This fish just looks like something out of a fantasy movie.

This one I found at a restaurant near my home. Many restaurants here often offer some type of live seafood even the little ones since seafood is so popular here. The place has a great selection, and pretty decent prices I guess. I rarely indulge the seafood, I like it but I am particular about which seafood I eat.

I’m not sure if this is a good price since I have never compared it before. Have you tried this? Would you? I suppose I could, I always try what’s offered to me. The thing is the Chinese often serve the whole fish, head and all, it would come to the table looking just like it does in the tank.

And this one has the biggest lips, doesn’t it? Not as odd looking but definitely a head turner.

I did try this one last week. It was OK, a bit slimy but it was smothered in enough garlic to make it taste like anything but what it really tastes like. Another staple of Chinese cuisine, whatever you're eating will be covered in spices and sauces to point you can barely recognize what it is you're actually eating.

I don't think I have eaten any seafish, most of  fish I eat should be freshwater  fish, they are   good. I  guess it is the character and tradition of Chinese food, they  cook the whole fish on purpose for keeping intact. Fish is 鱼yu in Chinese, it is an auspicious food in the feast. 
鱼yu is the homophonous character 余 yu, 余means enough/surplus, so the whole fish  represents "abundance" in the feast!

Oh that's a cute strange looking eel to me. Also that fish with the big lips , smackingly yummy!.  I had tried eels, octopus and sting ray. My dad used to cook them with coconut milk and lots of garlic, ginger and pepper. I missed those seafood dishes really. I could eat lots of rice with that sting ray! 
Well, I don't think there's an ugly fish, all living things are made beautiful it's just that sometimes we humans easily judge them with how they look. Well the most beautiful fish on earth could also laugh at the most beautiful human in the world and say, "eh, that human is ugly, humans have no flashy tails nor fins." For me true beauty is definitely way beyond what our eyes can see. 

Seafoods should be eaten with respect, they gave up their life against their will just for us humans to eat. I understand some people don't like some seafoods, especially when they're not used to it. Anyway there's no harm trying, we never know you might like it.

I still try to only eat things that look good.  Depends how hungry i am.  I also try to eat things that smell good.  There is a tofu dish/snack here called Chou Dofu which translates to Stinky Tofu, it stinks. Haha. I tried it.... Once

I love Tofu but I've not tried the Stinky Tofu, we don't have that kind of snack here. I read in Wikipedia it seems that food has a really strong smell. 😅
