Why? Why Raiders? How can we be 1-5 this season? Holy Baloney. There was so much hope, so much potential. Is anything going right?
How can I write this post when I feel speechless?
Remember when Colin Cowherd said the Raiders were a dumpster fire? How did he know?
You know what the worst part of it is? Carr is still the golden boy and the favored player when I still think he's overrated. He is not a playoff quarterback. There, I said it. I've been watching some college ball this year, some advantages are risky play calls, high scores, those white stripes on the ball, trick plays etc. You know it's bad for your NFL team when you're sitting there watching Oregon play and thinking to yourself, "Wow, I wish Carr could play like Herbert." BTW, Oregon vs Washington State tomorrow, should be a great game.
We lost 27-3 in London the week before our bye. Next opponent is the Colts, they have the same record at this time, 1-5. I remember some flashes of brilliance from Luck back in the day, not sure why they're struggling so much. So that should be interesting. Is it possible to make the playoffs after a 1-5 start? I'm guessing it's happened before but the odds probly hover around 1%.
The cherry on top is Amari Cooper got a concussion and left the game. I'm done with Cooper. I've been waiting for years for his talent to translate and I'm done waiting. But maybe not for the reason you think. It is out of curiosity. I want to see if another team can unlock his talent. If not we'll know the problem was more him than us. If he does flourish elsewhere we'll know it was more us than him. This is important information in explaining the mystery of talent not translating to performance.
Martavis Bryant only had 2 catches. If there's a time to light up Bryant it would be after Cooper leaves a game. Bryant has all kinds of talent. Just bewildering why he wasn't showcased.
The question remains. On paper, when you look at this roster you see the tools and skill set for a much better start to this season, why isn't the talent translating to victories? Upvote, comment, follow, you know the drill.
