Bitcoin has not become what it is today without its underlying technology, the blockchain. Qualified as an innovative technology, the latter is also very much in demand recently , and has just made its entry into ... the stock market, through dedicated ETFs.

The first Blockchain ETFs approved
The popularity of cryptocurrencies has been increasing since last year and many investors want to take advantage of them, especially the Wall Street giants. For example, in the last few months, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has been receiving applications for listing of Bitcoin-traded exchange-traded funds from its office , including from the NYSE and the CBOE.

The SEC has approved two ETFs, the Nasdaq NextGen Economy ETF (BLCN) and the Transformational Data Sharing ETF (BLOK) . But what you need to know is that these two funds offered respectively by Reality Shares Advisors and Amplify ETF Trust are not based on bitcoin, but rather on the blockchain.

This means that these two blockchain ETFs will invest exclusively in companies that rely on this new technology .

ETFs have decided that their funds will only invest in companies with a market capitalization greater than $ 200 million .

The word "Blockchain" cleared
After rejecting several Bitcoin ETFs , the SEC finally accepts ETF Reality Shares and Amplify, but under certain conditions. The regulator has indeed asked the two companies to remove the word "blockchain" from the names of the two respective ETFs , and this, at the last moment. The fact is that the SEC does not want the presence of this word in ETF names to affect investors. Indeed, several startups that bear a name with "blockchain", "bitcoin" or other cryptocurrency have seen the price of their shares climb at full speed.

But with or without a blockchain in their names, the first two ETFs based on cryptocurrency technology have been traded on the Nasdaq and the NYSE Arca since Wednesday, January 17th. They are trading at around $ 24.20 and $ 20 .
