Nothing puts our our discipline more at work than living in the modern world of today :  one filled with an endless stream of ways to make us drift from our own lane.
The truth is that everywhere we go, we will always find nearby temptations.
While the rational part of our mind knows too well the danger related to falling for our impulses, all it takes is the arrival of one single stimulus which then provokes the release of our best friend, or perhaps worst enemy in this case, dopamine.
We may think we know better, but unless we stick extremely firmly to our values -as if our life depended on it - our mind will nonetheless cloud our best judgment before we know it.

Meditation, as I always say, was a game changer for me.
It is the tool which helps me best on a daily basis, for instance, to make sense of the senseless, and also to keep my discipline game strong.
I will be eternally grateful for all the gifts that this practice has brought into my life.
Meditation has taught me that you are the only person who can fill yourself up.
Nothing external to you will ever bring you eternal peace of mind or will fill the void inside of you.
Discipline is the greatest skill one can have, especially living in a society which throws at you in a myriad of ways anything to get you distracted.
They make profit off us and we get more miserable by the day. 
Fair deal, right?

Just the fact that a majority of us own cellphones and fail miserably to not go a day without checking them speaks for itself.
We're not only slaves to these tiny little devices containing our lives inside it, we're prisoners of our own emotional image, that is the lens by which we see the world around us.
Most of us have at least one weak spot.
For some, it's food, for others, it's money, internet, social media, shopping, sex, alcohol, drugs, love, you name it.
Despite the differences between each of these impulses, they all share the same common ground, it being that they always keep us coming back for more.
We may know on a rational level that it's wrong - that we should know better, but knowledge is insufficient to change behavior.
Discipline is the answer, yet it's not something you can have access to at the tip of your fingertip, like most things in today's world.
