90's FLASHBACK - 311 DOWN Drum Cover

This is one of my favorite songs that was nice to jam to today. Its riffs are powerful, aggressive and never get old. The two hard breakdowns in this tune are up there with my top drum parts of all time.

I finally played this on a set today for the first time in at least 15 years. It's crazy to think that, but after an hour and sweating through my shirt, here's what I chose to share. If I played it for another hour, it'd be sharper, but the focus was on having fun in flashback mode.

I was a bit tempted to improv over Chad Sexton's parts, but it felt more natural to play most of the stock parts since they work so well. 

311 is one of my favorite bands. They've been around for a long time, but I'm most fond of their earlier material. I saw them live once and am long overdue to see them again.

I chose to try using a YouTube link over loading the video onto Dtube directly, in hopes that the link will outlast the typical shorter span my drums videos remain hosted on Dtube's site.

To hear all of the drums properly, headphones or speakers with good bass are recommended.

My pleasure man. I think it's normal for musicians to hone in on the intricate details. That's my nature anyway. 

I'll get to practicing a bit more. The guitar I'm playing right now is a cheapo Jasmine, and it has intonation problems and dead strings, which puts a damper on motivation to pick it up sometimes. I'm thinking about biting the bullet and upgrading. I was in the guitar shop today playing an Ibanez acoustic that was really nice and quite cheap for the quality, and of course, I still need to get an electric too. Hard times in the past, I lost all my gear, but I'm working towards building it back up. 

You motivated me to play more and buy some new strings, so I'll slap these bad boys on and get to work.

Thanks. It was literally a blast from the past to play. I've been listening to 311's new albums since and their old still will forever be better. If you ever heard of Spacehog, I covered them today for another time travel experience back to the last 1990's. In The Meantime was one of my favorite songs to drum ever. If you catch it, the bass drum was turned down a little too low in the mix for normal speakers, so choose your audio listening weapon carefully. ...Wait, you're a trained drummer and will spot all my mess ups... crap... I'm conflicted!
