Here's a picture progression and video of me lining a sharp single to center field. I don't get captured on film much, so this was nice to see.

# Hitting Analysis:
#
First At Bat (AB): Check swing strikeout on a nasty backdoor slider from their lefty ace. He throws exclusively on the outside half of the plate, and I was ready for my first swing with a laser foul ball to the opposite field. He surprised me with a new pitch he just developed, which he told me about later when he was playing first base in the video. It was not his usual curveball, so I wasn't expecting it at all. I strained my right forearm on the check swing, but pitched and played through it.

Second AB: Pop Out to first base/right field (I forget). Again, trying to go opposite field where the ball was being pitched, but I reached at a ball off the plate I should've taken. It was a pitch selection mistake, but I was being aggressive when looking for outside fastballs.

Third AB: Very sharp single through third base and shortstop into left field. I had a nice controlled level swing and hit it hard.

Fourth AB: Shown in video. Perfectly timed sharp line drive single up the middle to center field. I scored a run later in the inning. Solid connection.

Fifth AB: After 2 bad strike calls (certainly balls), and a high ball, I struck out swinging on a nasty inside fastball.

6th AB: Down in the count 1-2 against a good pitcher, after pulling a foul ball, taking a strike and a ball, I hit a good middle-away fastball for contact to center field. I stuck with the pitch and hit it where it was thrown, versus trying to pull it and grounding out (a typical bad habit). I was most proud of this one because I was at a disadvantage and stayed focused to execute. I scored a run later in the inning.

My bat felt as light as a feather. This is going to be a strong offensive season if I stay focused on my mechanics.

I'll post on my pitching later in the week. Mixed results there against 7 ex-college players stacking their lineup, but plenty of progress and shocked teammates with my drastic velocity gain.

Sadly, we lost both games today. This team was solid.
