**Harry Kane will fancy his chances against a leaky Palace defence**

**Tottenham vs Crystal Palace**

Tottenham pulled out an incredible performance to secure a win over Spanish giants Real Madrid in midweek. A result which puts them within touching distance of the knock-out stages of the Champions League, and provided a welcome confidence boost after back-to-back defeats against Manchester United and West Ham. Manager Mauricio Pochettino will not allow them to be complacent against a struggling Palace side – he will be urging them to push on and get them to turn Wembley into a real “home” ground.

Palace have undoubtedly improved under Roy Hodgson (they could hardly have gotten worse), but they still remain rooted to the foot of the table. They will try to defend and strike on the counter, but their away form does not bode well – they have lost all five of their matches away from Selhurst Park, failing to score even a single goal in the process. That record is unlikely to improve against a Spurs side brimming with confidence.

Prediction: Palace will try to keep things tight. It won’t work. An easy win for Spurs. **3-0**

**Sergio Aguero has scored 5 goals in seven games against the Gunners.**

**Manchester City vs Arsenal**

Manchester City continued their sensational goalscoring form with a 4-2 win over Napoli in the Champions League. That result leaves them unbeaten in their 16 games thus far this season, with 14 of these ending in victory for Guardiola’s men. They will be confident of continuing that form against an Arsenal team who have been poor on their travels.

Arsenal were also in European action in midweek, albeit in the rather less setting of the Europa League. They laboured to an undistinguished 0-0 draw against Red Star Belgrade. That result brought to a halt a run of four straight wins for the Gunners, but it was a run of form that masked a deeper problem for the London side. They have been woeful on their travels this season, losing three out of five games away from the Emirates, including a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool. Wenger may be forced to abandon some of his famous attacking principles if he wants to avoid another defeat to the league leaders.

Prediction: If Wenger refuses to adapt his gameplan, Arsenal could be on the receiving end of a heavy loss. If he does decide to take a different approach, his team will still lose. It’s hard to see who will stop City, but it won’t be Arsenal. **3-0**

**Will Mourinho be more adventurous than he was against Liverpool?**

**Chelsea vs. Manchester United.**

Is Antonio Conte under pressure at Chelsea? Possibly. One thing is for sure, though; his team don’t look anywhere near as solid as they did last season. Last year’s title success was built on a solid defence and excellent home form. This year, both their defence and home form have been unreliable. The 3-0 defeat to Roma in the Champions League was full amateurish mistakes, and they have only two wins from their five home games this season. Chelsea have some worries in the attacking department, too, with Alvaro Morata, who started the season so well, not finding the back of the net for six games.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are having problems of their own. Having scored 22 goals in their first seven games, they have only managed to score seven times in their last six matches. This is due in no small part to the negative tactics favoured by manager Jose Mourinho. He has proved himself to be more than happy to “park the bus” in big games away from home, perhaps best exemplified by a dour display in a 0-0 draw at Liverpool. With United striker Romelu Lukaku in the midst of a goal drought, Mourinho is likely to set his team up to steal a point.

Prediction: This is unlikely to be a repeat of last year’s high-scoring affair, when Chelsea ran out 4-0 winners. Expect United to defend in numbers, and try to hit on the break. **1-1**

**Can Rooney inspire his boyhood club to an upturn in fortunes?**

**Everton vs. Watford**

This is a big game for Everton caretaker manager David Unsworth, who has made no secret of his desire to keep the job on a full-time basis. Rumours abound that the board were willing to give him four games before making a decision. Having lost the first three of those matches, this could well be his last chance to make an impression, with the issue of who will take charge of the team likely to be decided during the upcoming international break.

Unfortunately for Unsworth, a home game against Watford is not the “gimme” that it was last season. With only three victories away from home last season, the Hornets only just avoided relegation. New manager Marcos Silva has transformed them, and they have already won three times in just five games on their travels. Their home form has been decent too, and they sit comfortably in 8th spot in the table. However, they have lost both of their last two games, and will be hoping to bounce back with a positive result at Goodison.

Prediction: Everton will be desperate for a win in front of their home fans, but Watford won’t be there just to make up the numbers. **1-1**

A good write up, and I agree with you on most predictions. Although, I think Watford will beat Everton 2-1.

@plushzilla ·
Nice write up and some very solid analysis. I am curious how this compares to @stickchumpion's prediction algorithm and the bookie's odds.
