Harry Kane [is out of tomorrow’s clash with Manchester United](http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/11100231/tottenhams-harry-kane-to-miss-man-utd-clash-with-hamstring-injury) at Old Trafford. The Premier League’s top scorer has failed to recover from a hamstring injury, Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed.

The England hitman went to see a specialist during the week to assess the injury he picked up in the 4-1 against Liverpool. It wasn’t thought to be as serious at the time, but after seeing the specialist it was confirmed that he has a minor strain to his left hamstring.

At his press conference, Mauricio Pochettino was asked if Kane was in the running for a quick return, but the Argentine said, "No, for tomorrow we cannot take a risk. It's a minor injury, very small, but we cannot take a risk for tomorrow. We will see after for Wednesday and Real Madrid, but for tomorrow, it's impossible.”

It’s a blow for Spurs in a clash against 2nd placed United, but Pochettino doesn’t think it’s worth taking the risk, as it could lead to a lengthier lay off if he were to play and aggravate it.<hr>

"Always you want all players available, but it is a problem,” he went on. “Play more or play less? Because it is most important that they are all available and fit."


Kane’s form has been incredible of late. In his last 16 appearances for club and country he has notched up 17 goals, so he will be a big loss for Spurs, and a big gain for United.

But the thing about Tottenham these days is their strength in depth, especially going forward. Dele Alli and Son Heung-Min have both been in free-scoring mode for the last year, and although they have both been through a recent sticky patch, they’re coming back into form.<hr>

Son scored an excellent goal against Liverpool last week and assisted both Tottenham’s goals in the 3-2 defeat at West Ham in midweek. Whereas Alli, scored a goal in both matches too.

There’s also Spaniard Fernando LLorente, who started in the draw at Real Madrid last week. The £14m summer signing may have had a slow start this season after breaking his arm, but he looked sharp against Madrid, and has won all the major honours there is to win with Spain, so he won’t be daunted at being asked to deputise on such a big occasion as Man United away.<hr>

It’s a shame for the game as a whole for such a big player to be missing from one of the biggest games of the season. But, Tottenham ooze class throughout the squad. United also have a strong squad, but have been stuttering off late, and I expect Kane-less Tottenham to still be too strong for United. 2-1 to Spurs.
