We are 25% of the way through the 2017-2018 NBA Season and it is looking like Lebron James best.  The 6’8 and 250lb beast of a man is in his 15th season. Lebron is in phenomenal shape and not only isn’t showing signs of slowing down, but instead is speeding up.  Let’s take a look at his statistics and compare with his previous seasons.

Lebron is averaging 28.5 points per game this season. This is his highest total since 2009.  One of the reasons for this is his shooting %. Lebron is making a career high 58% from the field. That is an incredible statistic. It is rare for anyone other than a Center to have that high of a percentage. Shaq’s career average is 58% due to his large amount of dunks and layups. Most Guards are happy to shoot north of 45%.

The 3 point line has always been like Lebron’s temptress.  He will sometimes cruise through a game and settle for jump shots in stead of driving hard at the rim. Lebron has shied away from late game drives in hopes to avoid the high pressured free throws. He would rather take a deep 3 then drive. His career average though is only 34.3% from down town. But this year Lebron is killing it from 3.  He is averaging a career high at 42.2% which is one of the best in the NBA.

Lebron shot a career worst from the free throw line last year with 67.4%. But he has drastically improved that this season and is beating his career average of 74% by making 76.9%. If he can keep driving to the hoop and connecting on his free throws like this, it will help the Cavs chances drastically.

Rebounding and Assists have always been two of Lebron’s strongest assets and this year is no different. He is above his career average by grabbing 7.8 rebounds a game. He is having his second best assist average of his career with 8.6 per game.

Are theses stats good enough to get Lebron a 4th ring? So far this dynamite play has only translated into an 11-7 record and 3rd place in the Eastern Conference. Can he possibly up his game even more? I think his Cavs teammates owe it to Lebron to play better themselves. What do you think about Lebron’s 15th season in the NBA thus far?
