The Cleveland Cavaliers secured their remaining all-star and makes sure he doesn’t go anywhere by signing him to an extension amounting to $120 million for four-years. As Love signs the contract in quicken loans arena in front of the Cavaliers front-office officials and construction crews working on renovating the arena, the team officially announced the news on Tuesday afternoon. After LeBron James left Cleveland, Love will now become the face of the franchise and will try to carry the team to the playoffs without the King.

As a five-time All-star and NBA Champion, Kevin has a special understanding of exactly what success and winning required.” Cavs General Manager Koby Altman said.

Love will become 30 years old in September and he has one season and a player option for 2019-2020 season on his current contract. Love has been the Robin to the Cavs Batman, LeBron James. He was the only Cavs player who averages a double-digit in the finals other than LeBron. He’s been a great help to LeBron especially when Kyrie Irving left Cleveland. Love averaged 17.6 points per game and 9.3 rebounds for Cleveland last season and was an all-star for the second straight season as well.

Dan Gilbert and Koby Altman wants to keep the Cavs in the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference so as they watched LeBron James leave Cleveland in free agency to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, they aggressively pushed to secure Love to a long term deal. According to Wojnarowski, Love opted out of the 2019-2020 season on his current contract and will earn $24.1 million next season before entering his new contract. Love played 59 games for Cleveland last season shooting .415 from the three-point line and a career high .880 from the free-throw line.
