Vegas, Tampa, and now Nashville is the hottest NHL team. Prior to winning ten straight, Nashville's hopes were diminishing as the days passed to become a playoff contender. Now, unless they lose more than 75% of the remaining games they play, they will be locked into the playoffs. They have the second best record in the NHL, slightly trailing Tampa who has 98 point compared to Nashville’s one point deficit at 97.

New Jersey is chasing the pack ahead of them, prior to losing four in their last five, they looked as if they were going to make the playoffs and now they are utterly struggling. Taylor Hall’s record breaking point streak came to an abrupt end in the Devils defeat to the Jets, 2-3, on Thursday.

Pekka Rinne, Nashiville’s goalie, ranks second in the league in games won at an astounding 37. In comparison, New Jersey’s starting goalie Cory Schneider has only won 17 while losing 14. Furthermore, Schneider is going to have to play very tough as Nashville’s defensemen have scored the most power-play goals, 17, in the league.

The Preds are almost 2:1 favorites on New Jersey and the projected O/U for this evening is 5.5. New Jersey’s tactic to win will be based on their defense, and the reciprocate will hold true for the Predators. May the best team win the game!
