The 2018 NFL Draft is almost here and we want to take a look at some of the best players that will be hearing their names called in the first round. Today we want to focus on some running backs. Next let’s take a look at Derrius Guice out of LSU. The 5’11 running back is entering the NFL Draft a year early after leaving school after his junior year.

Derrius Guice is an extremely explosive and talented running back. His college football career started as a back up during his freshman year. He quickly got a taste of the difficult SEC defenses that he would try and run through. Guice played in 11 games and had 51 rushes for 436 yards and 3 touchdowns.

His sophomore year would be a break out season for the LSU Tiger tail back. His numbers exploded and he ran for 1,387 yards. Guice would get into the end zone 15 times on the ground and also added another score as a receiver. His average of 7.6 yards per attempt was one of the highest in the country.

There was a ton of hype for Derrius Guice as he was entering his junior year. His name was mentioned as a preseason hopeful to win the Heisman Trophy and his face was plastered all over college football magazines in the South. Although his numbers took a little dip from his massive sophomore year, he still ran for over 1,200 yards and had 13 touchdowns. He also tried to get better as a receiver out of the backfield and caught 18 balls.

Guice has a ton of upside for the NFL. He was able to stay healthy in a tough and physical SEC conference and did not miss a beat. His only weakness is the lack of experience in the pass game but he has been working extremely hard on that aspect in his pre-draft workouts.
