The 2018 NFL Draft is almost here and we want to take a look at some of the best players that will be hearing their names called in the first rounds. Today we want to focus on the Safety position. Next, let’s take a look at the junior from the University of Alabama, Minkah Fitzpatrick. He is leaving school one year early to enter the draft.

Minkah Fitzpatrick was born and raised in New Jersey. His parents sent him to a Prep school called St. Peter’s Prep. He was a phenomenal high school athlete. Fitzpatrick play on offense and defense and although he wanted to play wide receiver in college, he was recruited for his skills as a defensive back. He was recruited by every major program but decided to take his talents to the University of Alabama.

With Fitzpatrick’s skill set, he was able to contribute immediately as a freshman and started in 10 games. He would have 45 tackles, 2 sacks, and would run back 2 interceptions for touchdowns in his first year.

The sophomore year would be even better and he would record career highs in tackles (66) and interceptions (6). Fitzpatrick would also run back 3 more interceptions for touchdowns and set a school record with 5 total.

It was clear that when he came back for his junior year that it would be his last in a college uniform. He had another spectacular season and helped the Crimson Tide have the best defense in the country. Fitzpatrick would win the following awards for his play:

First Team All-SEC
<hr>
First Team All-American
<hr>
Minkah Fitzpatrick is undoubtedly going to be the first defensive back to hear their named called in the upcoming draft. The only question is, will his new team use him at all on offense or in the return game?
