In a game of much excitement, the Super Eagles of Nigeria rallied from a 2-goal deficit to defeat Argentina 4 – 2 in a top class friendly game played in Krasnodar, Russia.
 
Argentina was without Lionel Messi who was rested after their friendly game with Russia on Saturday. The South Americans started better and were two goals up after 36 minutes. The Nigerians eventually got back into the game and completely turned it around in the second half.

<h2>1st half</h2>
<hr>

Ever Banega opened the scoring in the 28th minute from a well-taken free-kick which beat the helpless Daniel Akpeyi in goal for Nigeria.
 
The Nigerian goalie, Akpeyi, was the culprit of the free-kick which led to the opening goal, after he embarrassingly handled the ball outside his 18-yard area, instead of quickly kicking out.
 
Shortly afterward, Sergio Aguero made it 2 – 0 for Argentina in the 35th minute, with a tap-in after an excellent cross from Cristian Pavon.
 
The game seemed to be slipping away from the Nigerians until Kelechi Iheanacho got the team back into the game with a brilliant free-kick that beat Agustin Marchesin, just before the break.

<h2>2nd half</h2>
<hr>

Seven minutes into the second half the game turned on its head as the Super Eagles of Nigeria turned up the heat. Kelechi Iheanacho was once again the orchestrator as he found Alex Iwobi in the center of the Argentine box with a lovely pass. Arsenal man equalized with a first-time shot.
 
Two minutes later, Brian Idowu pounced on a loose ball from Kelechi Iheanacho, which fell nicely for him, to shoot from 18-yards beyond Agustin Marchesin and put the Nigerians 3 – 2 up.
 
Alex Iwobi then added a fine gloss to Nigeria’s wonderful come-back performance on the night by wrong-footing Javier Mascherano in the 73rd minute to score a beauty of a goal with the assist coming from substitute Ahmed Musa.
