Russell Westbrook had another fantastic game last night when the Oklahoma City Thunder blew the doors off of the Miami Heat. They now find themselves in a 3 way tie in the Western Conference for the #5 seed, along with the Pelicans and Spurs. They have just one game left in the regular season when they host the terrible Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night, while the Pelicans and Spurs face each other.

Now let’s take a look at Westbrook’s phenomenal stat line from last night. He had an ok shooting night. Westbrook made 8-21 from the field including 2-5 from the 3 point line. But it was his other numbers that were really impressive. He grabbed 18 rebounds and 13 assists.

Westbrook is desperately trying to average a triple-double for the second year in a row and he is as close as you can get. Entering last nights game, he was averaging 25 points and 9.8 rebounds and 10.1 assists. His enormous total of 18 rebounds pulled him to within .1 point of achieving his goal of the triple-double season average, at 9.9 rebounds.

So what will Westbrook do on Wednesday night? He will need another 18 rebound night against the Grizzlies to reach his goal. Westbrook has been accused of caring more about stats in his career than he has winning. Fortunately for Wednesday, the Grizzlies are so awful that Westbrook can focus on stats and still win the game. I fully expect him to be in 100% beast mode and would not bet against him.

Westbrook will in fact get the job done and he will let everyone know about it.
