Tonight is the Chick-Fil-A College Football Labor Day Kickoff Classic between the Tennessee Vols and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. This is the second game of the weekend being played in the brand new $1.5 Billion Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The game kicks off at 8pm Eastern Standard Time and can be seen on ESPN. Tennessee is a 3 point favorite and the over/under is 55.5 points.

What to watch for when Tennessee has the ball:

There are 2 quarterbacks that are fighting to replace Josh Dobbs, who is now in the NFL. Quinten Dormady is a traditional pocket passer. Jarrett Guarantano is more of a dual threat quarterback. Both players expect to get playing time tonight for the Vols. They will be joined by 7 returning starters and a lot of optimism for the #25th ranked team in the country.

Running back John Kelly is back and will shoulder a lot of the load. He had a solid season last year and will be the feature back this season. The Vols also have talented wide receiver Jauan Jennings back. He was able to catch 7 touchdowns last year and has high expectations this season.

Tennessee should be able to move the ball well against the Yellow Jackets defense. They are more talented on the line of scrimmage and will put up some points tonight.

What to watch for when Georgia Tech has the ball:
<hr>
Run baby run. Head Coach Paul Johnson is the best triple option play caller in the country. His teams often make the opposing defenses have fits as they try and stop the Yellow Jackets running attack. Johnson hates punting and often will go for it on 4th down. The one luxury that the Vols defense has, is that this is the first game of the year and they have had plenty of time to prepare for the triple option offense.

But there are a ton of questions for the Georgia Tech offense. Gone is 3 year starting quarterback Justin Thomas. There are 4 quarterbacks that are fighting to be his replacement and Paul Johnson is yet to announce who will get the start. Also, star running back, Dedrick Mills is kicked off the team and that leaves them with their best returning player gone. The Yellow Jackets do have all of their wide receivers back and a great offensive line. They will grind a defense down and even with the inexperienced quarterback position, they will still be tough on a stubborn Vols defense tonight.

This will be an exciting game to watch. It will be a chess match between Paul Johnson’s offense and Butch Jones defense. Tennessee will need to keep the ball as much as possible so they can give their defense some rest. This one could go down to the wire.
