The top two teams in their respective conferences squared off on Saturday night when the Boston Celtics traveled across country to visit Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena.  Over the past two seasons, Boston is the only team in the NBA that has a winning record as a visiting team against Golden State by winning both games when traveling to Oracle Arena.  Golden State came into the game winning three consecutive games looked to add to their win streak.

Boston jumped out to an early lead over the home team, grabbing a ten-point lead after the first period behind Jalen Brown’s 14-point quarter.  In the second quarter, Golden State was able to cut their deficit to four before heading into the locker room.

Steph Curry started the second half scoring on his team’s first three possessions to tie the game at 57.  He continued his stellar performance in the period, scoring 18 points, including four three-pointers.  The Warriors outscored the Celtics 30-19, building a seven-point lead at the end of frame.

The Celtics looked to their star point guard, Kyrie Irvin to provide one more spark to pull even with the Warriors and he delivered with seven straight points midway through the final period, pulling his team ahead 93-92.  With the game tied at 98, the former MVP, Curry, once again came through, with seven points on three consecutive possessions to take a 102-97 lead with under a minute left. The Celtics scored on their next three possession, but each after the Warriors were fouled, making their last six free throws in the game.  The Celtics were never able to overtake the lead as the Warriors won their fourth consecutive game by a final count of 109-105.

The Warriors Curry had a game-high 49 points, including eight three-pointers. Kevin Durant backed Curry’s performance with 20 points and nine rebounds.  The Celtics Kyrie Irvin led his team’s scoring attack with 37 points on an efficient 13-for-18 from the field in the loss.
