This is bad for many reasons. I hope they don't start charging to use soundcloud. I myself have a couple of tracks up on there already, but I don't use it nearly enough to warrant payment for it's usage. I hope it doesn't happen at all. Or if it does, I hope they come to some sort of realistic arrangement. I feel that if they start charging, many people will look elsewhere to post their music. Luckily we have steemit I guess haha.

The problem with Steemit is that it doesn't host media. You can embed Soundcoud tracks here. There are alternatives, but I'd hate to have to give up that option

It does seem that consolidation is inevitable. The massive companies buy up the small ones for their technology or to kill competition. It must be hard to resist an offer of hundreds of millions, or billions in some cases. Would Facebook want to buy Steemit?
