I sure do hope our loyalty means something. I got bags full of steem-engine tokens that *need* a steem moon to mean something. I would also love to level up my steemmonsters summoners. I like reading what the "smart" people have to say, but at the end of the day, all that matters is what our coin is worth (well sure, the "community" matters too, but much of the community was lost at around 0.50 steem, so I don't see them coming back just yet).

I have mixed feelings as well, but the announcement the same day as the EOS Voice Beta.

I don't think that's just a coincidence, and making that assumption Justin Son is just a marketing genuis.

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic, but there's a very clear and direct correlation between Steem-Tron rumours and price action, all the way back to late last year. 

As for the announcement, I'm not sure what's going on. Will wait for more news, but as far as I see it, sounds to me like like the current Steem chain is being abandoned and moved to Tron - which of course means should witnesses decide to keep the current chain running, the network will split in two. I could be very wrong, but let's wait and see.

It seems to indicate a split in the system. We know for sure that the STEEM token is going to be swapped from the Steem chain to the Tron chain. We know that they are talking about migrating dApps from Steem to Tron. More information is pending, but the hints are there of a split.

I think my biggest concern is what this will mean for the current Tribes and the value of their tokens.  Will there be a conversion from abc token to the new Steem token if classic Steem becomes worthless?

I think Steemit need to tell us what this means for us all. They do not rule the blockchain like they once did. If our Steem loses all value they will make a lot of enemies.

I would estimate this is the END of Steemit as we know it - doubt a lot good will come, sad for large stakeholders but let us see what the press conference will say. It is not like tsu going dark mate but a bit "Deja Vu". Price peak nice but the swap will probably kill a lot and I am a bit shocked on that.

Well it depends on how they do it. Steem != Steemit and the rest of the chain could carry on without them. If they could kill it then they lose a lot of support. It's not like Tsu. People have invested serious money and resources in building stuff.
