it feels really 90's website! It's an engineering vs. designer issue! Designers would never have made it like that. Being stopped from commenting is like a slap in the face, opposite of engagement. Weird.

The underground sites like Steemit and Diaspora are run, created, and envisioned by engineers, while designers unfortunately, like most artists flock around the money. I mean only designers could remove useful functionality to make it easier and less complicated for the user (Apple). Engineers on the other hand does tend to overlook even the most obvious communication aspects ... Look at this hilarious video of a guy trying to explain the greatness of IPFS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CMxDNuuAiQ I must admit that I kind of like the free movement, and untended feature-grass in the construktion yard, to the spacey, well-designed, chokingly one-way rubber-cell of Google, Apple, Microsoft, and Facebook. But the comment-limit is just plain stupid, when I forst encountered it, I thought it was a bug, but now I suspect it has some rewardpoolishlimitthing function.

It was originally designed to pay the poster and parent commenters up to 6 levels deep a portion of the rewards from comments - to reward and encourage posts/comments that spark good conversation.
