I am excited to see the new #Steemit logo and was wondering if there was any guidance as to what we can and cannot do with reproducing the logo for Promotional Merchandise?

I fully support and understand that the #Steemit brand and logo are protected by intellectual property laws, including copyright and other proprietary rights of the United States and foreign countries to allow #Steemit to protect the brand and logo, but was wondering if there was any guidance as to how we can reproduce the logo for Promotional Activities and Promotional Merchandise.

It would be great to have some clear guidelines as to what we can and cannot do.

For example, can we print, wear and distribute T-Shirts with the logo on it along with other items such as: Caps, Mugs, Pens, Flyers, Business Cards, Banners etc.

Based on what I read last night on @steemitblog, these new logos represent the site, Steemit, not the blockchain technology, STEEM. These new logos are protected by intellectual copyright laws so without permission, you wouldn’t be able to legally reproduce, sell or distribute anything. The STEEM logo is Creative Commons, so that is still free to use.

Thanks for the comment. I fully appreciate that #Steem (the cryptocurrency) is totally separate from #Steemit (the blogging site) and the two are totally different entities. What I am trying to understand is how we in the Community can promote #Steemit without violating any copyrights and infringements. It would be great to get some definitive guidelines from #Steemit so we can all work to the same procedures as to what we can and cannot do without upsetting anyone. How can we promote #Steemit if we cannot reproduce the logo? Stephen

Hi, @stephenkendal!

I really like the new logos for Steemit, but it's really sad that they are so strictly protected. As far as I understand, it would be illegal for you to use the logo to promote Steem and Steemit unless you get premission from them first. I get why they would want to protect their logo, but it sucks when they will be losing out on free marketing!

I'm a huge fan of all the good work you have been doing for Steem by the way! Keep up the good work ;)
