In this Blog, my goal is to convince all Utopian.io /Steemit members to utilize DTube in their Blog posts in place of Youtube.


First and foremost, this is not a drastic call to cancel your Youtube Channel ​and only use DTube. We can all appreciate the amount of time, energy and effort it took to build your Youtube Channel and would not expect you to walk away from it. Youtube is still a very useful platform to recruit future contributors to our Platform. The request instead is simply to utilize DTube in your Utopian.io and Steemit Blog Posts in place of where you would normally post Youtube Videos. You should still continue your Youtube Routine as usual while implementing DTube into your Social Media Repertoire. 

That's all. Just take the time and effort to use our very own Open Source Project instead of Youtube in Utopian.io and Steemit blogs. With a little effort and practice you can change your posting habits to better benefit our entire Ecosystem and keep our own projects in mind first !

Yes, it is an extra step especially if you already have the Youtube link and can just paste it into your Utopian.io or Steemit Blog. But think about the optics and the message it sends to everyone in this Open Source Economy if we continue to use Youtube and not DTube for our Contributions.

If we are the leaders on all topics "Open Source" then we are the example. If we are the example then we should lead by example and "Eat our own Dogfood".  This term describes an organization's willingness to use their own products.

So, as people read our Contributions and hear and see all of the great things that Utopian.io is doing for Dtube but then sees the presentation posted on Youtube, there is a Big Disconnect. Videos about DTube on Youtube posted on Utopian.io/Steemit are quite the Oxymoron !

In addition, as everyone see's the Open Source Leaders "Eat their own Dog Food" and post on DTube , the community will grow and do better and in addition not frustrate anyone with contradictory messages.

If you review the list of improvements and go to upload a video you will see an immediate improvement so there's no excuse not to upload your Tutorial and Explainer Videos onto Dtube and use in place of Youtube. 

Having more members post on Dtube will improve it's performance by having more people finding bugs and offering suggestions for improvements. But until we begin to form the habit of utilizing DTube in our posts , we can't expect the rest of the Community to pick up the habit as well.

Another consideration are the random Copyright Claims and "Adpocalypse' issues on Youtube that can render videos unviewable. These are not issues on Blockchain (although members are still reminded to abide by Copyright Laws).

I applaud your efforts and thank you for being a Great Example and Leader in implementing DTube into your Blogs as well as demonstrating Brand Loyalty ! Your videos are excellent references for all Steemit members to learn about the Platform. It will be great to have ALL of those lessons eventually uploaded onto DTube. It will further showcase DTube as a Utopian.io Showcase Open Source Project.

Perhaps there can also be a suggestion or a reminder in the Pre Posting Rules to ***"Utilize Dtube wherever possible in place of Youtube"***. See image below for the example suggestions already in place:

So I urge all Utopian.io Contributors, all Steemit Members and all 3rd Party linked Sites to utilize our very own DTube and utilize it in place of Youtube every chance you get. If you consciously change your posting habits, you can have a positive effect on the entire community and encourage others to do the same.
