Playing the Long Game
<a href="https://businessn2k.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Untitled-Design-50.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-4813" src="https://businessn2k.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Untitled-Design-50.jpg" alt="" width="750" height="750" /><br></a>

It is easy to shoot for quick wins. To go for the <del>kill</del> prize now. To clamber over people to get your spoils.

<em>Problem is, that over the long-term, this strategy 'sucks'!</em>

This strategy ends up peeving-off so many people along the way - both your customers and competitors - that you risk leaving your reputation in tatters. And our reputation is absolutely key to our long-term success. Instead, why not aim to look for win-win situations and play for the long game? Your career could be 80 - 100 years long (especially for 'millennials'), so why snatch at short-term wins today?

I think age is a great mellower. When I think back to my 20's, I was impatient. Keen for success and the trappings that came with it. Likewise into my early 30's. I then spent the majority of my mid-late 30's 'in the thick of it' building my career and it was around that time that I started to learn the importance of my network (<em>your wealth is in your network</em>) and things started to slow down. I realised that if I could grow and nurture my contacts and clients, then I could live a happier, more prosperous life.

Counter this with the person whose sole motivation is to get what they can out of every situation. They upset people left-right-and-centre, then move onto the next person ("<em>it's a numbers game, after all!"</em>, they would mutter to themselves). Busy burning bridges all around. Quick wins = Long-term (network) losses.

We now have such long careers ahead of us (<em>who needs retirement?!!!</em>) that there's no need for us to shoot for quick-wins if there is a risk of longer-term repercussions.  Let's take our time and build long-term relationships. Relationships that can be nurtured and grown for mutual benefit for many years to come.

Let's focus on playing the looooong game.<br /><center><hr/><em>Posted from my blog with <a href='https://wordpress.org/plugins/steempress/'>SteemPress</a> : https://businessn2k.com/playing-the-long-game/</em><hr/></center>

What's that quote....People over estimate what they can do in a month but under estimate what they can do in a year? Or something similar to that lol

But everything that matters, takes time. So important to have that mentality going into an endeavor.

Yup, that's along the lines of the quote. I see this more and more these days as an important theme.

Same could be probably said about steem right now - would be easy to drift off when prices are low but I suspect that those with long term vision (and effort) will be rewarded.
