Greetings! Last time I showed you around the [Peking University Bookstore](https://steemit.com/travel/@susanlo/my-stories-20-fall-for-peking-university-2-20-2), did you like it? 📖 This time I'm gonna introduce one of the most important things for me this summer at PKU - ***STUDYING*** !!! ✏️ If you wanna know how the learning environment of PKU is and whether I have a nice learning experience, you should come with me now!

Overall speaking, the classrooms in PKU are similar to that in HKU. There're both lecture halls and normal sized tutorial rooms. However not everything is the same... there's ***no electrical outlet on the floor*** 🔌!!! At HKU we can always find electrical outlets on the floor in our classrooms, so we can charge our laptop or tablet while using them to take notes. ~~OK I know for many students laptops are not for note-taking at class ;p~~ But I can't find any of the outlets at PKU. So, if I have two 3-hour classes in a row then my laptop will basically become a heavy piece of decoration for the last 2 hours or so. 😭 On the first day I didn't bring my (paper) notebook, so I had to jot down my notes at the back of the class outline LOLLL What I learnt from this? ~~Buy another laptop with longer battery life💻~~ Jotting down notes on a paper notebook is a good habit!!! 😝
>總體來說，北大的教室與香港的差不多，都有***階梯教室***和***普通教室***之分。不過有一樣東西很不同......這裏***地下沒有插座*** 🔌！！！！！！！香港大學的話，每一行桌子下的地板上都會有很多的插頭，方便用筆記本電腦的學生可以邊用邊充電。~~邊充電邊玩電腦的也大有人在啦~~ 但北大這邊好像沒有TVT 所以，如果我要連續上幾個小時的課，我的電腦在最後兩個小時基本上就是一件沉重的裝飾品......😭 第一天上課的時候我沒帶紙質筆記本，所以上到最後要把筆記記到課程大綱上背面LOLLLL 事情教訓我~~要買一部耗電量低的筆記本電腦💻~~，還是要養成手抄筆記的好習慣哦！😝

This classroom looks like a ***secondary school classroom***! 
>我覺得這間教室很可愛——像***中學教室***耶！！

The professors here are very dedicated. I feel like I’m listening to an ***extraordinary public speech*** every time I have lesson! The students are hardworking, and the academic atmosphere is just perfect 🎓. But there’s one thing different from HKU: many of the courses are ***taught in Mandarin***. It’s been a while I’ve ever used Chinese to complete a non Chinese culture related coursework! ;pp And also: the ***handwriting*** of the professors here is great 😍 Every single character looks like an art work!
>這裏的教授十分敬業，我感覺上課就是在聽他們***精彩的演講***！！同學的學習態度也很認真，學術氣氛真的很讚🎓 有一點與港大不同的是，北大很多課程是***以母語（中文）教學***。我好像已經很久沒用中文寫過中文科以外的功課了！有點不習慣呢XD 還有一點：這裏老師的***板書都寫得很漂亮***，每一個字都像是藝術品呢！😍

Interesting facts: I came to PKU to study courses related to health and medicine, and I’ve learnt something that’s changed my long believed “common knowledge”. For example: we’ve been told by our parents that ***yogurt*** is good to our health because of the probiotics contained. However, is this really the case? ***NO***. First, our guts are alkaline while our stomach is acidic. Second, as soon as probiotics are exposed to oxygen, they die. So, only very few probiotics could make it to our guts. Therefore, technically speaking only the less healthy ones need to have yogurt. Normal people don’t need any yogurt to improve their health as the bacteria level is always balanced in a healthy human body.

趣味小知識：我這次來北大讀的是醫學方面的課程，有些知識打破了我許多年的（自以為）健康常識。比如說：我們總是聽別人說，喝酸奶有助消化、有減肥的作用，所以對身體好。其實，這是不對的！！！因為我們的腸道是鹼性的，而胃液是酸性的，所以能經過胃到達腸道的益生菌其實所剩無幾。另外，益生菌只要接觸到空氣就會死亡，所以真正到達我們腸道的益生菌又會有多少呢？再者，一般人（除了病人）的腸道菌群是處在一個平衡狀態的，所以，正常人是根本不需要喝酸奶來改善健康的。

The learning environment is great. There’re lots of comfortable chairs and tables for students to rest or study: 📘

This is interesting: you’ll find umbrellas ***all over the ground*** in academic buildings on a rainy day! 🌂 Everyone would leave his wet umbrella outside the classroom, so there’s often no space left in the corridor!! You should really be careful walking down the corridor! 
>我發現了一個***有趣的現象***——下雨天的話，教學樓裏面會***滿地都是傘***🌂！！！真的不誇張哦，每個帶傘的人都會把傘放在教室外邊，所以路過的時候真的要小心呢XD （右下角的那把已經被人踩爛了😢）

I’ve also discovered a ***fun-looking toilet door***. It looks like an old door of a bar in the west region in the States, isn’t it? LOLLLL 🍻

The workload is quite high here. Not only should I study all the PPT content, I need to finish reading a book in a short period of time!

Overall speaking, the learning environment here is great, and I’ve seen and learnt a lot! 😍 I think I’ll stop here :)) Next time I’ll share more of my experience at PKU with you, cheers! 😆
