Kokubunji Park is a relaxing park of water and green centering around a circular lawn open space of 500 meters around. There is a wisteria trellis with 3 meters of extension and 33 meters of extensions around the pond and shelves of Noenza kazura, and it will color the park during flowering season.

There was a central railway school of the JNR period at the place where there was a municipal Musashi Kokubunji park. In order for JNR to repay the debt, the central railway school grounds were sold. Central Railway Academy was an educational facility involved in railway, with a lead - in line laid out from Shimogawara Line (the route to Tokyo Racecourse) which was laying in Kokubunji at the time at that time and connected to the outside. In the premises there were old railcars such as Shinkansen 0 series, 101 series trains, EF60 type locomotives, etc. for education.

Kokubunji city has developed as a residential city that retains the historical history and the Musashino aspect, as a cultural city colored with water and greenery. By the enthusiasm of those concerned who wish to convey this to future generations, a monument with the motive of the steam locomotive driving wheel, which is also called the symbol of the railroad, was set up here.

東京経大学がある高台から再び街へと下っていきます。

駅方面には行かず国分寺に向かって歩きます。

ここから国分寺公園へ行ってみたいと思います。

国分寺公園は一周500ｍの円形芝生広場を中心とした水と緑のゆったりした公園です。池のまわりには延長33ｍ・幅3ｍの藤棚やノウゼンカズラの棚があり、開花期には公園を彩ります。

公園を一周回ってみます。

ここ都立武蔵国分寺公園がある場所は、国鉄時代の中央鉄道学園がありました。国鉄が債務を返済する為に、この中央鉄道学園敷地は売却されました。中央鉄道学園は鉄道に関わる教育施設で国分寺に当時敷かれていた下河原線（東京競馬場行きの路線）からここに引き込み線が敷かれていて外部と繋がっていました。当時敷地内には、教育の為に新幹線0系,101系電車,EF60形機関車などの古い鉄道車両が存在していました。

国分寺市は、由緒ある歴史と武蔵野の面影を残す住宅都市として、また水と緑に彩られた文化都市として発展してまいりました。更に、鉄道との関連が深い町でもあります。かつてこのあたり一帯には、旧国鉄の中央鉄道学園があり数多くの人がここで学び、その技術が現在のＪＲに引き継がれています。これを後世に伝えたいと願う関係者の熱意により、ここに鉄道のシンボルともいうべき蒸気機関車の動輪をモチーフとした記念碑が設置されました。
