My interview in social networks (part 2)

If you could live anywhere where would it be?

Hmm. I love this question. I have multiple answers. I’d spend the summer in New York City and in San Clemente, CA. Or maybe I’d just scrap those plans and live along the coast of Northern California. Ahhh to dream.

I know you're close to your parents/family by what you post. Do you get along with your inlaws?

Yep, I love hubby’s family. I know that I’d be much closer to them if we lived in the same state. I really love them and their families, but we don’t get to see each other too often, so we are not super close. My husband doesn’t do a very good job of keeping in touch with his Mom or brother. His extended family is AMAZING. They totally took us in while we were in Southern California. His paternal Aunt’s threw me a baby shower, his cousins invited us on play dates and his maternal Grandma and Aunt were at the hospital the day Kate was born.

What is your workout routine?

I run 4 days a week, I do yoga one day a week, and I do the 30 Day Shred 3-4 days a week (depending on how I feel). Prior to training for this race, I was a jogger. I would jog 3-5 days a week and do light weights. I worked out a lot while pregnant, but made sure to OK it with my Dr. and kept my heart rate below 140BPM.

Where do you shop for home decor? (kids included!)

Let’s see. I do a lot of online shopping. Etsy, Target, Ebay, Walmart, Babies R’Us, Amazon. I bought Addie’s bedding from Cocalo Couture. I buy home decor from Macy's, Ashley's Furniture, Z Gallerie, Ikea, Cost Plus World Market, Pier One and pretty much anywhere I find something cute!

What are your favorite beauty products?

Wow, this is a hard question for me. Hmm… the one thing I use every month is the Rembrandt Two Hour Whitening trays. I love those. I try not to leave home without a little chapstick and mascara on. I also have terrible under-eye circles, so concealer is a must.

Your house is beautiful!! What do you love most about it?

Well thanks! My favorite room is the living room. It is so cozy and inviting. It makes you want to cuddle under a blanket with a cup of cider! My favorite feature is the exterior. I love driving down our street and seeing the red roof from half a mile away.

I know you worked your arse off in college, do you ever wish you were still working in marketing full-time?

Yes, I think about it a lot. But I miss having my own career. The grass is always greener…

A question for your hubby: Tell me how you are getting all of these promotions back to back!

Ha! I will answer for him, since he is not here. He has been very fortunate to be in the “right place at the right time” so to speak. To say something about his character; he is truly the most honest, genuine and likeable person I know. He is also hardworking and great at his job. He has been rewarded for landing big accounts and going above and beyond his job description. The relocation was considered a promotion, but he chose to be relocated.

Even though y'all are a one-income family, you were able to save for a house, are making changes to your new home, and bought a new car a while back. Do you have any advice for people trying to save but not feel deprived?

Tough question! Is we got lucky an OK answer? LOL. Well, the long answer is that we are very frugal with our extra money. We don’t “keep up w/ the Joneses”. I don’t care if I don’t have designer clothes or shoes, don’t drive a fancy car (it was used, standard model from Carmax – very affordable) or that the girls don’t have every toy ever made. We don’t buy “stuff” unless it is a birthday or holiday. We very rarely buy new clothes. We shop the sales. I can honestly say that I have never shopped at Nordstroms or really any store like that for clothes. Is that embarrassing? I don’t know. It is just not my thing. We don’t overdo anything. If we want a vacation, we set a budget and stick to it. If we want something “big” (like a couch or TV), then we use cash, not credit. I buy a lot of stuff from Craigslist and Ebay. I get excited about buying something used (in good condition) for half the price of it brand new. Could we buy everything brand new? Sure. But, why would we? Why should we? To brag about it? Seems silly to me. I’d rather pocket the cash and pay off a bill. For what it is worth, we will be debt free, loan free (minus one car and mortgage payment) by the end of March. We hope to stay that way forever.
