Tomorrow in the news, you are likely to see a fair bit of this building. It is the Presidential Palace in Helsinki and is where Trump and Putin are going to meet to discuss umm, discuss something. I don't really watch the news so I don't know what they will *allegedly* talk about but, I am pretty sure neither does the news.  I took the photo yesterday and as serious as all the secret service people and security looked as they prepped and scanned the area for potential threats, just across the road was a market place that might not get as much exposure. Here is another photo that was almost literally taken as I spun on my heels.  Despite strawberries being expensive this year, what people need to remember is that what they read or see in the news is rarely the case at all. The stories that tend to get the most coverage are generally the less important ones, the mountains out of molehills. And, what is really important gets overlooked completely or buried between the cheeks of a Kardashian flashing something or other. People tend to focus on the drama of situations which, when it comes to global media, are dramatizations of events, *not actual events.* It is not easy to stop oneself from being pulled into the stories they spin as they have been designed to do just that, pull attention. The news is one of the greatest examples of an attention economy as they not only draw a very large number of eyes, they are able to continually feed more and more information to those eyes. They have been able to shorten the news cycle and change subjects so fast that no one has the tie to properly research a topic and if one slows down, they become *out of touch* with what is going on. This means that once something has been investigated thoroughly, there is no longer an audience interested enough to care as there has already been a hundred more stories that have grabbed their attention between. This means that everyone is trying to be the first with news but accuracy is not important, neither is the real meaning of events. People just want to *feel* like they know what is going on even if they have no real justification for feeling that way at all. The news is a fast-food consumption behaviour, as for the most part it is eaten but it holds no nutritional value, tells nothing useful to the consumer. It is however useful to the peddlers of poor information. For them, there is a huge amount of value in creating an atmosphere of fear or, one that is able to support the sales of some products, whether their own or someone else's for ad revenue. When it comes to news these days, the only real *'new'* one is going to get is a product that is not necessary but, now you want. At the end of the day, they are always selling something. Work out what it is and generally you will find that in the long-run, it is unlikely in your favor or, beneficial at all. When it comes down to international politics, it is all about sales too. What are the politicians selling, what is the cost to taxpayers. At the end of the day, that is what it comes down to for the most part. It could be selling military equipment or lamb but, there is always something to be traded and, it is the people who will always foot the bill one way or another. Tomorrow, while people are outside buying strawberries in the market square, inside the Palace their lives are being negotiated like trading cards. There are going to be people claiming victories and defeats, saying that the agreements are for the better or for the worse but, at the end of the day, you can almost be guaranteed that there is going to be a cost for everyone except those who actually know what is going on behind the closed doors. You are correct these news do not provide any value to the society now a days. Have you heard about president Trump not bowing to Britain queen and made her wait for some time was made a big news. Unfortunately, we live in a world of duality, in which we have "the actual news" (the literal events, as they unfolded) on one side, and the "reportable" news (which hinge mostly on marketability and ad revenues) on the other. That's a nice market, I wish we had such things outside our government buildings. The first time I visited the market I had no idea the big yellow building with modest security was the Presidential Palace. It blends in, since 40% of the buildings in Finland are that color, or so it seemed to us.
