you are right brother  and as you said there are a lot of  "good timers" and for sure having this kind of people will never enable us to have a strong community. Communities are built on the thick and thin. thank you for the post.

A great post. Relevant to me at present, as i've just joined steemit and have been watching arguments between steemians over  " rewards" and authors who just post to make money and don't add quality.
I think we can see this most in the area of crypto currency.
I see authors making huge rewards by giving faulty financial advice using practices from a different paradigm. "Technical analysis", they call it.
They set themselves up as "experts" when they clearly aren't. They lift graphs and other titbits from other forecasts around the net and them pass them off as their own advice o crypto. Not only are they taking huge rewards but they are giving bogus advice. If you attempt to tell people that you get comments from people who treat crypto like a religion and will hear nothing negative, even when correct. I'm a newbie and I found out last night that these self styled "whales" can target me by down flagging all my posts and that's already happening.

Absolutely, and this is true in all walks of like. Fair-weather friends, colleagues, family members, peers etc. 

On Steemit, I've noticed a lot less posts from people I follow, and this is perhaps because they feel the rewards are no longer large enough to be worthy of their time. This suggests they were only here for the earnings to begin with. Don't get me wrong, we all love the rewards that Steemit offers, but we should also look to give back as much as possible too, and that means giving the platform support when times aren't as fruitful.

My main goal the past few days is getting rid of the resteem bots / accounts from my feed. 
+ I originally had thought this would be a good way to find new people and interesting posts from outside my "circle."
+ I was using https://steemstats.com to see my feed (with additional handy info.)
  + But, these resteemers took over my feed and I did not get to see my circle. So I'm 1 by 1 removing them.
    + As I move forward, thanks for the heads up @tarazkp, I will keep this in mind as I continue pruning the people I've followed.
    + I have not noticed any difference in the core set of people I like to interact with. Guess that's a good thing...

Took hours for me to be able to log in here today. I hope the issues with the site are now taken care of. 

I just made a reply to @taskmaster4450 some minutes ago who wrote about people staying motivated through times like this. There's only one line to put in here and that is: tough time creates tough men. It's at moments of high wind that you will know the stamina of the chicken.

I totally agree with you. Majority, posts only for the money. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. But that's not a good sign for the steemit community. As the steem prices go down, the rewards also go down. Due to which, there's a sharp decline in the number of articles posted by those greedy authors.
This is actually an eye-opener. This will separate the passionate authors with the greedy ones

This is very true. You can tell who is here because they want to be, and want to do something good for the community vs those who are just "here for the rewards" (aka themselves). I noticed this a lot around the time that I joined.

I joined around father's day last year. I saw tons of posts and lots of people helping others (as well as themselves) and there was a really happy atmosphere. Soon after I joined, the price of Steem plummeted and almost all of those happy people disappeared. It was tough for me as a new member because at the time I had no idea what the price of Steem was or why so many people seemed to have just "left for no reason". Tons of the support that I was building up disappeared overnight and my $0.15 post rewards quickly dwindled to $0.02 after so many of my followers left.

I've kept on going since then though. I made new connections, new friends, new followers. My posts still don't collect a large dollar value, but that's not why I'm here. I love the "core" community here. So many people care about others in the community, and they care about keeping the platform a place where people will want to join and help grow and make better (without simply trying to come up with a new "get rich quick" scheme).

That's what keeps me here too. The community. The group(s) of people who care more about the community and the future of the platform. Sure, the monetary aspect will always be here, and that's fine and somewhat important, but the more people who we have on here that view Steemit as a community first and see the monetary rewards as a "bonus", the better off the community will be (in my humble / not so humble opinion).

So... slash and burn those fair-weather friends!

Aye! Aye!! I I totally agree with you. It is when the ships are down that we can truly know those who are invested in the growth of the community. This is not about steem power or steem or sbd. This is about putting in the work not because of the profit but because you know that even if steemit was just a blog,  you will be posting, commenting and clicking the likes. 

At the end of the day,  if everyone goes home when prices are low,  then what will be left when prices go up.  

I am still posting because I am doing what I have always been doing before I heard of steemit and I will still be doing it until my fingers can no longer tap the keys. Something to think about.

One of the reasons I haven't started posting right away is I actually do want to take the time to decide what to present an how to do it. If I am honest, most social media sites I have used because friends and family want to keep up with me or for businesses. I do find it frustrating trying to find people I would actually like to follow and am not quick to add a person to my feed for that reason. My interests vary, so once I do decide how to go about introducing myself, I want to provide quality over quantity. I appreciate your various topics of writing. It's something new and I don't get bored by your thoughts written.
