I came across a comment by @fulltimegeek which led to an interesting series of events.  As most of you are aware, yesterday afternoon I put up this post about starting a project whereby we used our voting power to get as many people to 1000 SP as we can.  To me, this is a life changing number based upon where I believe the price of STEEM is eventually going.  To do this, we need to do two things: A) utilize our voting power on a regular basis and B) do something to use our collective strength instead of being haphazard and scattered with it.

Whales take a lot of flack on here for doing things that are perceived by many that are solely in their self interest to the exclusion of everyone else.  Certainly there are some, if not many, who fall into that category.  However, it is dangerous to paint every whale that way.  I linked an article posted by @transisto who called out many of his fellow whales for actions he felt were completely against the long-term benefit of the STEEM blockchain.

My point is that many whales are dedicated to seeing this platform grow and are not happy about some of the actions that take place on here.  Their frustration is the same as ours since they recognize that their long term maximum profitability comes from a thriving blockchain, not a set of people trying to scalp as much money as possible.  Many of these whales are spending a lot of time trying to come up with ways to alleviate some of the problems in an effort to get more people enjoying success on here.  Personally, these are the ones I am gravitating towards and looking to assist.

In a post sharing a video at Steemfest, @fulltimegeek posted this in the comment section:

Now before going any further, I will state that it is terrific that @ned delegates 500K to different projects, the most recent being utopian.io if I am not mistaken.  There is a great need to fund development so that this blockchain has a lot more to offer.  That said, this comment floored me because of its' simplicity and really drawing attention to the main problem on here.

In my view, the biggest problem is not the need for more development or even marketing.  People like to point to these two areas claiming we need to do more to succeed.  While both are very important, they miss the basic challenge with steemit at the moment: a lack of success by the masses.  There are far too many who find this place only to leave discouraged by the fact they posted articles that got little to no attention.  In other words, the retention rate is abysmal.  We have 450K accounts on here yet there are only 20K-30K active.  That equates to roughly a 5% rate of active users; imagine how much this site would be thriving if that was 10% or 15%.

Looking at @fulltimegeek account, I see that he has roughly 600K SP, of which, almost 250K is delegated out.  His comment about delegating 5000 SP to a bunch of different people obviously was simply a reflection of what he is presently doing.  Using my simply math skills, that means he has 49 or 50 people with his SP upvoting and promoting different content.  In my view, this is a much better way to attack the biggest problem on here since 50 people will find more content to upvote than one person can.

By posting a comment, I was fortunate enough to receive some delegation from @fulltimegeek, for which I am very thankful.  This was a total surprise since it was not asked for nor do I believe he has any idea who I am.  To my knowledge, I do not think that we ever crossed paths in a comment section.  Perhaps he looked at my blog and decided he liked what I was doing.  Either way, he was gracious enough to send me 5000 SP which basically doubled my voting power.

It is amazing how things line up and synchronicity takes over.  After posting about not using up out daily SP and trying to put together an idea of how to help get more people to 1000 SP, I have my voting power increased substantially.  This one move will, I hope, greatly benefit this community since I am dedicated to the cause of helping as many people move their accounts forward as I can.  I realize my wealth will only be created through the escalation in value of the steem blockchain.  Since Steemit is one of the major apps, success of many on here is imperative.

We see a lot of complaining and negativity on here which only deters from the possibilities.  There is incredible potential with the steem blockchain and, as I just pointed out, some powerful people who are dedicated to seeing it succeed.  If, instead of whining, we focus upon what we can do to push things forward, we find that situations arise which help our cause.  This article denotes how some of that is taking place.

In keeping with my post about the a1ksp project, I adopted @mariannewest as the first one I am committed to helping get to 1000 SP.  She has agreed to post on a daily basis of which I will upvote at 100%.  Thanks to @fulltimegeek, her path there will be a bit quicker.  I urge others to do the same with either @mariannewest or another so that we can start the process of getting a fair portion of the daily rewards in their hands.
