I had a strong desire to go to a place I had never been before. Choosing places for such trips is quite difficult, and I had to study the map carefully for a while before I found a suitable location. The small town of Kolpino is a half-hour commuter train ride from St. Petersburg.
The distance to Kolpino is about the same as to such suburbs as Tsarskoe Selo or Peterhof. Tsarskoe Selo and Peterhof emerged near the imperial palaces and parks, and thousands of tourists go to these suburbs to admire the masterpieces of architecture and park art. Kolpino arose at about the same time at about the same distance, but it was a city of workers and artisans. The city was built near the Izhora Plant.
Medallions on the information stand reflect the history of the city. The first medallion reflects the history of the area, it belonged to the lands of Great Novgorod.
The workers were removing the old paint and applying new paint, so the booth didn't look very presentable. Unfortunately I didn't have time to wait for them to finish their work.

The Izhora Plant was a priority target for shelling during World War II. The destruction in the city was very severe. After the war, the central part of the city, which is located near the railway station, was planned and rebuilt. Some of the pre-revolutionary buildings have been repaired, but the basis of the development are the so-called "Stalinist" apartment houses. The buildings of this time are not architectural masterpieces, but they look nice and are comfortable to live in.

Memorial stele in honor of the feat of the 72nd Izhorsky separate machine-gun artillery battalion. This monument is dedicated to the battalion, which managed to stop the enemy in 1941, 4 kilometers from Kolpino.
The most interesting sightseeing site could be the Izhora Plant, but the plant continues its work and is closed to tourists. You can only look at the Izhora Plant through the fence. Nevertheless, the walk through the town of Kolpino was pleasant, I was able to see new places, as planned.
