Wow, so proud of you for riding the cable car today @tattoodjay.  I too would have been horribly scarred knowing someone who had taken my place had died, geesh.  Now that you have done it once you know you can go again :)  Beautiful shots, quite a view, I can see why people love riding the cable cars ( btw I couldn't even tell you were shaking,) lol

Good going taking that ride. I would not blame you at all for never taking another cable car ride again .... :-)

Wow.  What a story and I totally understand why you make any kind of excuse not to go on this cable car which I have never seen before in a city.  Well....  I guess I have seen it in the Spider-Man movie.  hehe.  

I went on one of those on the mountains, and I almost pupped my pants since I am afraid of heights, so I don't think I would ever go on these in a big city.

I'm proud of you! I really am! It takes guts to do that after the grand finale of your last cable car attempt.

I am sure that was just a Freudian slip, right? I figured that is what you were thinking the whole time you were on. Perhaps. What a beautiful view from up there, though, right??

I know how it feels my friend. There was an incident where I missed my connection and was pretty irritated as I had to be in Phoenix that afternoon, but, the plane that was mine crashed in a cornfield and everyone on board was killed. Wind Sheers. I never fuss over the inconveniences. I figure there is a deeper meaning to them.

My son has had a motorcycle accident in last november. He still suffers from the injuries (ankles, knees, shoulders, ellbows, broken collarbone, lost fingernail and more). 

He is riding his repaired motorbike again, but carefully and with fear, he says. 

I have not seen the accident, but I have seen his injuries, and I have seen his pain. 

Last week I got my motorbike back from winter storage and I was so happy. I love to ride, and I make more miles than the average motorcycle riders - about 600 miles a week.

I just cannot enjoy riding this year. I ride, I love it, but before each turn, I think of my son's injuries. 
Before he has had his accident, all I wanted was to ride my bike, at any time and at any weather. 
Now, when the weather is fine, I think, I want to go riding, but will I come home alright? Will there be a pothole in a turn, which I don't see? Will there be oil on the road, or will a car driver not see me, like it often happens?

I know, this is by far not comparable to your experience, but your story made me think of it and showed me, what I haven't realized yet. Should I overcome my fear, which is sitting in my neck when I am riding, and which might cause an accident?

<b>You can be proud of yourself JJ</b>, that you have finaly been able to ride that cable car, and nothing happened. Now you have done it, you don't need to do it anymore, but you know you can, if you want to. 

My father said a few weeks ago after a little heart attack: "<em>When it's time for you, then it's time. If he wants to get you, then he will get you.</em>"

He did not want to get you ... whomever my father meant.

These are just the thoughts that went through my mind when I read your story, and I hope I could write it down fairly intelligibly, and I hope you don't mind me writing of some of my own problems.

Another nice S & G reference!  Wow, that is a crazy story about the cable car!  I am glad you were able to conquer your fears, even if it was only briefly!

Wow!  You did it.  That is an amazing feat in itself.  And took photos to prove it.

I listen to that voice.  Every time.  I've waved off Motorcycle trips and rides, car trips.  I once got off a train trip (I had a pass, not a ticket) and didn't even know where I was :)  It turned out to be an OK 24 hours until I could catch the train again.  Nothing happened, but I had to get off.

I'm glad you rode that horse.  When I was growing up my old man made me get right back on every time I came off a horse.  I'm not so sure that's the right thing, but the sense of accomplishment is real.

Good on you, and thanks for sharing it.

I couldn’t imagine witnessing something like that.  That is so terrible, may they all Rest In Peace. So glad you didn’t get in the cable car that day.  

Kudos to you for facing your fear and doing it!  You were able to capture some incredible shots and I appreciate you sharing.  I don’t blame you for taking the subway back ;)

It certainly takes balls to do what you did JJ.
After my shunt on the bike, once I left hospital after 3 months and in a full cast on my left leg, I was determined to ride again.
I called up my brother in law and he came along with his Kawazaki 1000cc.
We placed my leg in the cast on the front at the handle bars and he sat behind me to change the foot gears.
Voila! I was riding again!
It was in 1981 and I was in plaster for 81 and 82,
After the cast came off, I never rode again.
So well done my friend and proud of you!
