Because of the cold and a few other things going on, I haven't been able to make it to the beach for a walk since well before Christmas, so this morning I needed a virtual beach visit so I found this shot I took last summer to edit and share.
I was walking along the Boardwalk near by Silver Sands State Park that morning and saw this rock Cairn I guess you would call it,  built and had to walk over and get some shots of it.
## What would you call this?
I know some call it a Cairn which I understand by definition is **a mound of rough stones built as a memorial or landmark, typically on a hilltop or skyline.** 
I know people sometime build these cairns on hiking tracks and such where they are meant to mark a safe path or route, so I am not sure that strictly speaking i would call it a Cairn to me its more Rock Art.
Whatever its called who ever built this sure must have put a lot of time into it its a pretty impressive piece of beach art..
When I visited this same spot about a week later it was all gone probably washed over by a high tide.

Nice shot, @tattoojay! I can understand missing the beach. When I leave for the big city to visit my son, the first thing I need to do when I come back is go to the beach. It gets in your blood. The cairns such as these are called Inuksuk. Originally made as markers in the north but have spread throughout North America.

The rock sculpture is really cool, but the sea and sky behind it, the colors and arrangement of elements... The clouds even seem to center on the sculpture, which is not centered in the photo but is exactly where it needs to be to create a dynamic composition that pulls the viewer in. Really engaging, beautiful work. Following you :)

Cairn sounds cooler than rock art. I don’t know that I ever seen one that elaborately built.
