* #### Why always blockchain…!

Ever since its inception, a lot has happened on the blockchain technology. Who could have expected an industry that was created roughly a decade ago to make such a buzzing impact? The achievements, the boundaries it has shifted – it turns out that this next-generation technology emerged to solve ranges of problems that have been characterizing the global financial sectors and human lives in general. Now there is a new way this technology has come to help us. Maybe it is not a new way but I just happened to explore this late. Nevertheless, there is something I will like us to look into before we proceed.

Data is an important entity. Looking at it deeply, I would say it is everything. An extracted data about an individual describes everything about him. The house he lives, the foods he eats, the places he visits, the way he reasons, what he hates to see, his hobbies and all activities that he engages in. This is to the extent that when this data gets to the wrong hand, there is no limit to the damage it might cause. That is why protecting our data has always been a very important part of our existence.

---
* #### The internet has become an inseparable part of us

How are our data being gathered? It is not like people just get to understand us without being close to us. Now it is not about getting close to us physically. The thing is we are the ones that usually give out these defining parts of us. You can hardly be active on social network and get to hide from the world. That is possible, of course. It will, however, mean that you are not being real; i.e. using a false identity. If you are staying real on the internet, you are practically exposing yourself to the world.

We cannot hide anyway. Not completely, trust me. However, we are so used to utilizing the functionalities of the internet. We visit an established beautiful place for the first time and we get to tell our friends about the trip instantly over the internet. No need of meeting up face-to-face, no need for faxing some low-quality images. Grab your mobile device, login to your social media accounts, get connected with friends and family, post these beautifully taken pictures and voom - you are on the go!

> You are starving. Your stomach is seriously demanding for something delicious. You pick up the phone and order some burger. The delivery man is here just a few minutes after placing the order. The burger is freshly made, looks yummy – just the way you want it. A few minutes later; the pictures of you hungrily eating some burger surface online. Your followers joke about it and drop some nice comments. Some even share the posts. Just a few hours later, you are there again sharing your opinion on a poll created by one of your followers.
Now, it is already late at night. It will be another hectic day at work the next day. You need to wake up early but here you are, finding it hard to have some sound sleep. You are not even feeling sleepy. You then decide to listen to some cool music. Maybe that will make you sleep. You got carried away by the sonorous voice sounding graciously in the earpiece. You grab your phone and share what you are listening to with your followers on a social network.

Now think about it. One does not need to live with you to understand how you reason, your personality and how you live your entire life. You have already shared the data online while exploring the fun. This is it. We cannot be blamed for utilizing these technological innovations on the net. Why then are our data being taken behind our consent, sold to some organizations that would empty their account balance just to have these data?

---
* #### Haramp saw what we are being deprived us

> Your data is more worth than you might expect, in the future, it might become your lifeline

That is [Jaron Lanier](http://www.jaronlanier.com/), a famous American writer making us understand how much our data are worth. Our interactions online cost us our precious time, energy and some other resources. These interactions bring about huge fortunes for these platforms owners. However, we get nothing in return for putting up contents and adding value to the internet. What is more, our data are being sold without our consent. That means that most of these big guys are not interested in protecting our privacy.

[Image sourced from project's repository](https://github.com/hapramp/1Rramp-Android)</center>

Through what we share online, interested minds get to know everything about us; our interests, the activities we engage on and all that. These data can be used for political and other important life agendas. Is this how it is going to continue?

---

* #### No! It doesn’t need to. Says the [Hapramp](https://hapramp.com/) team

Meet the next-generation technical solution to the problems of insecurity and lack of respect for our privacy as online users. Here comes the Asteria protocol!

One thing that I quite find hard to comprehend about technology is why it always fills the loopholes it leaves as it continues to better our existence. Sometimes while creating a better means to have a problem solved, you leave some trails behind. To me, most of the security and privacy-related problems in the tech space are caused by centralized systems. I am not saying this because I am a blockchain fanatic. Isn’t it obvious anyway? However, technology has a way of solving every problem. It might just take us a while to figure out.

Hapramp studio saw what we are getting in, with the way we use various platforms on the internet. Now we have been made to realize how much our data are worth. It, however, does not end at that. The team strives to see internet users being treated with fairness as we deserve. This brought a project that opened the door for the most-sought-after web 3.0 where the internet is filled with highly-secure applications.

---

* #### Asteria Protocol – The bedrock for data-handling web applications

Asteria comes with a new initiative that benefits both the web app owners and users. We are talking about a protocol that seamlessly builds an economy around the internet interactions for the data owners (users) and the owners of these platforms. That, however, is not the topic to be discussed in this series. We shall look at that deeply in the subsequent series.

Security, privacy and users’ ability to control their data are the bases that describe the integrity of an internet platform. The Asteria protocol was created for these functionalities and it has become a successful project. So we will take a look at how this protocol takes care of this to benefit both the platform owners and users.

Asteria protocol uses a set of advanced techs to provide a standard environment on which data-handling applications can be built. Most of the internet forums are built around users’ interactions which accumulate valuable data. Everything we do online; the videos, photos, and audios we share with our followers need to be stored somewhere. As simple as it sounds, platforms owners spend some fortunes to create and maintain this functionality. Now it is not about just “anywhere” but somewhere that can be trusted with our data protection and Asteria has been unbelievable as regards this functionality.

The protocol provides an encrypted repository for data storage thereby bringing instant privacy and security for users. With this, app developers no longer need to spare extra resources on utilizing secure backend for data handling. One of the entities responsible for this is the Open Source’s trustless data handling standards and encryption. This is highly beneficial to us; the users as well as the owners of web applications. On Asteria, not even the applications owners get to access their users’ data without extreme permission from the users. Again, that is not all…

---

* #### Yes! Asteria hits the target but the blockchain is the fierce playmaker

Do we even need to take this long? I doubt it. Blockchain has being a proven entity not just due to the new economy that emerged through it but also in terms of paving ways for highly secure applications. Let us face it; this technology has made the world a better place. Asteria is equipped with blockchain technological tools and the two has formed a formidable force where users interactions are stored on decentralized systems.

With decentralization comes transparency and many untapped benefits. On the blockchain, data are broadcasted over networks of computers known as nodes. There is no centralized system here, and the complex algebras being executed by these nodes makes blockchain one of the best bedrocks for security protocols. Many organizations have leveraged this feature of blockchain and among them is Asteria protocol.

The Hapramp team combined these two advanced technologies; blockchain and Asteria to bring about a network on which app developers can deploy various independent applications with a great focus on data security and privacy to benefit us all as we explore the web. As well, we can monetize the values that we are being added to the internet. This monetary aspect does not only benefit the users but also creates an economy for platform owners to seamlessly monetize their apps without selling users data. Welcome to the world of decentralization!

* #### Departing thought… and hey! This is just the first series

We do not have control over our data as we use various web applications. We just have to trust these apps to provide verifiable security; have some regards for our privacy and protect us from being manipulated by some agencies through our data. With Asteria, things have changed. Not even the applications owners can access our data without extreme permission from us.

I do not want this post to be too long so I do not scare off my readers. However, there is a lot we need to know about this massive project that combines the features of different technological advancements to provide a better internet exploration for us. Stay with this blog as the subsequent series shall be published soon.

This is another well-done post from you. 1ramp is indeed a cool project. I have read many reviews about it, and I think it is a project to try. But, I notice that there has been little activity on the GitHub repository. I hope it gets busy again.

You did well on the content side. The post contains exciting information about the project. I even value your explanation on the Asteria.

Thanks for sharing!
