The next little ice age Vol. 48
## The next little ice age Vol. 48
## Anyone need ice? Status of the Arctic platform.

September 16-2017

Good morning, afternoon, night depending on where the reader is.

We start with the sunspots as always.
Quiet week in terms of sun spots. The group of sunspots 2680 follows its passage through the visible solar disk. With magnetic field Alpha does not pose any threat to the Earth.

### Michelson Doppler Camera (MDI) soho/nasa.
*In addition to having the names of groups of sunspots we have in the lower right both the size of the Earth and the size of Jupiter. So we can get an idea of the enormous size of the groups of sunspots.*

*The sunspots, or rather the absence of them indicates in which part of the solar cycle of 11 years in which we are.*

*According to some theories, the Earth's climate is greatly affected by this cycle. More heat during the solar maximum, colder during the solar minimum.*
There is much more to tell but this is roughly what I have been trying to explain with the presentation of some scientific studies on this subject.
*For more information, read my previous articles.*

As for coronal holes. We continue with the coronal hole in the Solar Northern Hemisphere.

The magnetosphere is perfectly supporting current conditions. Despite being in the solar wind. The sharpest shape of the Magnetopause is an indicator that we are within the fast solar wind current.

## Summary.
The current conditions of the space climate are calm. As the noaa tells us. The solar wind is at 635km / sec and the density of protons is 4.5 protons per cubic centimeter.

# Arctic ice

I will ask you as yesterday that you enlarge the graph.So you can see that first there is more ice accumulated than in the whole historical series. Second, today we are inside the colored part of gray representing the average ice accumulated between 1981-2010. And third, there are 1.5 million square kilometers more than in 2012.

## When we speak of extensions in square kilometers it is very difficult to visualize. That is why I have thought that the best way to see it is by putting the extension of some countries. The approximate sum of the extent of these countries is equivalent to the amount of ice accumulated in the Arctic platform that exists today compared to the year 2012.

France 643.801 km²
Spain 505.990 km²
Portugal 92.212 km²
Italy 301.338 km²

Imagine the extent of these four countries corresponds to the difference of ice accumulated in 2012 compared to 2017.

## Excellent news.

When I look at your "arctic sea ice extent" graph it appears that there is LESS ice in 2017 than most previous years rather than MORE (as you say) - perhaps you could explain?

Look at the scale on the left. Where the extension appears in millions of square kilometers. The lower the graph line the less ice accumulated there is. In 2016 it reached a minimum of almost 4 million square kilometers. Now that we are at the annual minimum there are 4.74 million square kilometers. 740,000 square kilometers more. I hope this clarifies your doubts.

@n1mr0d ·
Oh, I see. You are saying that THIS month (sept) the accumulation is higher than Sept. 2007, 2012, 2016.
But then you say;
>"enlarge the graph.So you can see that first there is more ice accumulated than in the whole historical series. "

I did that but to me its looks like Sept 2017 is the ONLY date in which accumulation is greater and if one looks at the whole series from 1981 - 2010, excepting only september, total 2017 accumulation is at the BOTTOM of the gray area which is accumulation from 1981-2010 (the gray area). Is this not correct?

Yes, I understood the graph was not yours personally, and I appreciate you citing your sources.

Also the graph is not mine. The graph is directly offered by the University of Bremen. I use the source meereis that besides the graphs offers satellite photos of both poles.
I always put the link so that each one can see for himself the data.
