**Leather things are so expensive!**, but how I love the texture and smell; leather is a really noble material full of resistant wonders, **although the reality is that at some point we should do without it** (due its animal origin, and taking in consideration that a living being is sacrificed to get it).

And because of it, I prefer to only get _"synthetics"_. The problem with synthetic imitations is that those have a short average life span (especially if they are kept stored for so long, or received heat/moist); the _synthetic leather_ starts deteriorating pass 2/3 years, crumbling to the touch.

>The covers are lined with two different kinds of _synthetic leather_, and due the time it has been stored, when I took it out to use, it was ruined.

However! The inside was intact and perfect, so it was worth trying to save it by making a thick fabric lining, a hybrid material between _jean_ fabric and _heavy cotton canvas._

Examining the album’s measures, and also the zones that needed to be covered, I realized that the best would be to improvise a complete lining, in a material that wouldn’t absorb the loosened sand of the vanquished material, and that won’t also be transferred by this.

Fortunately, the interior is clean and intact: I almost cried because this is my favorite album type, where you can **place photos without glue or other adhesives.**

<center>***The Process to elaborate this lining is basic but not less ingenious.***</center>

The idea is about making a **mini-pillow sheath** with the photo album cover’s dimensions, adding 1 extra centimeter that the covers’ thickness will eat when _"lined"._

The blank space that you see between the 2 pieces of fabric cover the bigger piece, has the exact distance occupied by the thickness of the photo album sheets.

The 3 pieces are sewn together with tight and small stiches since this sheath shall not be loose; instead it should be as close as possible to the covers when we start installing them.

Before and after flipping the **mini-sheath** we shall make sure to iron it very well, at medium-high temperature, and let it rest so that the seam does not open when we stretch it.

The method to place this _sheath_ to the album is exactly the same as if placing your pillow covers, with the difference that this album is not flimsy, so we will open both covers and take them against each other in the opposite direction of the sheets inside the album, it will look like a bird opening its wings!.

Then it will be when the position of the covers will allow us to install the lining without mistreating any of the two pieces, in a comfortable and risk-free way.

The book indeed talked about all the things I wanted, needed and waited to know about keeping the order; also including unexpected truths such as **you shall only keep those things that REALLY MAKES US HAPPY**, and that each one of them shall have a designed place to rest at our home, in order to naturally avoid disorganization along with the heavy feelings caused by being overwhelmed for having too many _"thingies"_ that we keep just for compromise or guilt feelings.
