<p>Impact sports such as football and boxing, can cause brain damage in the long term. Studies showed that such an episode can contribute to neurodegenerative problems such as trauma in the brain. Researchers who followed football players saw a close link between kicking the ball and brain abnormalities.</p>

<h3><em><strong>Why is it so difficult for researchers to understand the effects of impact with the ball?</strong></em></h3>
<p>It is a very complex issue. There biomechanical forces that can be measured, as well as the linear and rotational acceleration. But we are dealing with the human brain, not some inert object in the laboratory. There are a lot of biological factors influencing the possibility of a concussion: how many hits each person has had before, how severe they were, how close they were located together. Other factors include<em><strong> age</strong></em> (is more likely to produce a concussion in a younger age and the recovery is slower), <em><strong>dehydration</strong></em> (increases chances of conturzii) and <em><strong>gender</strong></em> (women can have easier contusion).</p>
<h3><em><strong>A US study shows&nbsp;</strong></em></h3>
<p>Contrary to earlier findings, a US study found that headers are confirmed as an explanation for concussion among footballers and those soccer players who headed the ball a lot, were three times more likely to suffer concussion symptoms than those that didn't.</p>
<h3><em><strong>Michael L. Lipton from Albert Einstein College of Medicine said:</strong></em></h3>
<blockquote>“These results show that heading the ball is indeed related to concussion symptoms, which is contrary to a recent study that suggested that collisions were responsible for most concussions. The findings raise concerns about the long-term effects from heading the ball, and more research is needed.”&nbsp;</blockquote>
<p>In New York city, the scientists checked oult adult amateur soccer players who played for at least half year. The participants have completed questionnaires asking them regarding their enjoying frequency, ball heading and if they had unintentional head impacts.</p>
<p>The participants were split up in 4 groups based on how many times they headed the ball. In the top of the group were the people who headed the ball 125 times in two weeks, and at the bottom, the people who headed the ball only 4 times in two weeks.</p>

<p>Those participants were additionally asked however typically that they had any symptoms from the head impacts. It was outlined that there were moderate impacts as average pain and some dizziness and severe impacts as feeling dazed. A very severe impact was defined as losing conciousness.</p>

<p><em><strong>It is recommend that young people under 14 years old do not head the ball . The impact here is more damaging and young brain is more vulnerable. Young people also have the head higher than the rest of the body.. For example, until the age of five years, the heads are about 90% of the circumference of the adult, but the neck is not as developed.</strong></em></p>
<p><em><strong>Players should have proper instruction on the correct way to head the ball, and the ball should be the appropriate size for the age of players because smaller balls are less likely to cause damage.</strong></em></p>

In short the bodies of children through adult are being ruined through competitive play on all levels.  The big winners are sponsors and sports medicine.
