Yesterday we finished the raised bed. Built a wall at the one end to compensate for the slope, hoping to head off any erosion.  Waiting to receive the rest of our seed potatoes by mail. No need to wait with these. You can see the eyes already starting to sprout vegetation. One common practice is to put the seed potatoes out on a sunny day for a day or two. This will trigger their growth.
Had enough room to build a 5 foot x 5 foot raised bed at the other end.  This is where we will be planting cabbage and squash.

The backdrop for our potato  bed are vines from our hops. As the hops climb the guide wires they will provide shade for the potatoes. Potato seeds should always be planted in two rows as each one shades the other during the heat of the summer day. Robin also planted Sun Flower seeds between the hops and potatoes. They will also provide shade. Boy does she love her Sun Flowers.

From this closeup you can see that the raised bed consists of a lot of organic material. Don't be stingy. Also remember to keep PH  between 4.8 and 5.8.
