Story Time: Life did give me the finger... (WARNING GRAPHIC IMAGE)
So about a week or two weeks ago I wrote about everything bad that had happened especially about how my toe had become increasingly worse.

Last week I got the news that I would need repeat surgery. We found a Dr an hour away who would do it without traumatizing me and without needing to fully remove my nail. Yet his procedure involved cutting off a chunk of my toe.

Yesterday we went to have this done. After the fist few cuts he discovered my arch nemesis, the reason for all my pain and infection. It was a piece of nail trying to piece through my skin. And guess what. The nail was shaped like a fist showing up one finger.... Don't believe me?

They cut away the finger and more flesh... Then cauterized the wound... let me tell you... The smell was... well first it was like someone cooking aluminum foil (basically a strong metal smell) and then smelt of burnt BBQ.

Daniel was standing by my head, kissing me while this was done and got electrocuted... Twice. The dr found it strange that I had smelt all of the things I was smelling since neither him, the nurse or my mother in law standing by my feet smelt a thing and ordered my blood sugar to be tested. But I wasn't the only one who smelt it. Daniel did too. 


We left without any meds as I already had lots of antibiotics at home and I assumed the dr thought I had pain meds. I did not. Soon after leaving the anesthetic wore off... Pain suddenly jumped from pins and needles to a five and was gradually rising. We found a pharmacy and I explained what had occurred, showed them the picture and the pharmacist took mercy on my soul. She gave me the strongest pain pills she could give, they technically needed a prescription but with proof of urgent need (pain level at a 7) she overlooked the rules.

Today I have an itch that makes me want to scream. I'm also not allowed to remove the bandage because they had cut deeper than expected and I need to go down again tomorrow for a check up (hence the reason I'm writing today).

I might be able to wear shoes and dance at my wedding yet... Wish me luck

bloody hell !!! I also had the same problem but thank god mine was healed easily and didn't required a surgery. Such a surgery would have killed me. You hang in there bro.

The surgery actually wasn't that bad because the dr who did it was very gentle and explained everything before he did it.
