Upcycling Tires into a Tire Erosion Embankment at Teken Community

Today was a very tiring day for Tirlamo and @mr-greens as they embarked on a Tire upcycling project to build a tire erosion embankment for a small stream in Teken Quarter Mile  4 Nkwen - Bamenda in the North West Region of Cameroon 🇨🇲

A few weeks ago, we received this consignment of used tires we collected from around the city of Bamenda

The following simple steps were carried out to realize the Tire erosion embankment project once the used tires have been collected; 
1. Dig a trench along the bank of the stream that is deeper than the stream base level

2. Line your biggest tires at the bottom of your trench and fill them with the earth you removed from the trench

3. Put your second line of tires on top of the first line of tires making sure that the centers of the first tires intersect with centers of the second line of tires. 
It’s also important to step the second line of tires behind by a few centimeters so that it will increase the stability of the erosion embankment. 
Effectively fill it with earth and make sure you do some compaction of the earth.

4. Repeat step 3 until you attain your desired height for the tire erosion embankment

And there you go, a cheap and more durable and sustainable erosion embankment
