Barns by @xcountytravelers

<div class="text-justify">As Ren and Scott of <b>@xcountytravelers</b> (Cross-County Travelers) flit about from county-to-county on their exploits, barns occasionally present themselves. More often that their schedule sometimes allows, Ren thinks of me and wants to stop for a photo. I always appreciate the thoughts, and her photos, whether made from a standstill at roadside or from the passenger seat of their moving vehicle.<p>

The following shot is one that was snapped of a lovely and unique barn, located somewhere between Austin, Texas, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. I like the roofline of this barn and would love to see inside it!

In some locations in the mid-western US, there are vast amounts of flat land with nothing much around for miles. I am always astounded when I see scenery such as this, as large parcels of nothingness is not common in the southeastern US where I have lived all my life. I have also never visited the mid-west, so I have never seen anything like this in-person. I can't even imagine what it is like living in such a place, where one might have to drive 20 miles to reach the nearest tree. 😱

Anyone who is interested in travel or US history should check the posts written by Ren and Scott of <b>@xcountytravelers</b>. According to <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/County_%28United_States%29" target=Top><b>Wikipedia</b></a>, there are: <em>"3,142 counties and county-equivalents in the 50 states and the District of Columbia,"</em> and if one counts the counties and county-equivalents in the territories of the US as well (<em>e.g.</em>: American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, <em>et al.</em>), then there are 3,242 counties and county-equivalents. The goal of <b>@xcountytravelers</b> is to visit as many of them as possible! And by "visit," that often includes some time at a State Park, a courthouse, or similar location. What they learn is then outlined in posts on the blockchain as well as videos that are uploaded to dTube and/or YouTube. Both Ren and Scott engage in photography, and their posts usually include lanscapes and <em>points-of-interest</em> as well as delightfully-written descriptions. Check out their blog today!

You are just so sweet!  I love taking photos of barns and old homesteads for you because you love them so much.  I didn't realize you hadn't been to the mid-west.  The landscape varies so much here. I love how I can see the historical aspects of this place in the geology and the parts left behind by settlers.  I do love sharing this all with you.

Ah yes, the barns of the midwest!  Having spent most of my life in the midwest these are indeed a familiar sight.  Many of the older barns have advertising painted on the sides (many for tobacco! ) So nostalgic.  Love the editing you did, adds a certain dreamy feeling to the scenery.  Hope you're able to travel in the area some time, you would love it!

Love your results. This kind of nothing around for miles is hard to find here in Germany. When a Canadian friend visited me, he mentioned that Germany is one city.
