Examination of human behavior, in the same manner as with any other physical phenomenon, will help us to better understand the influences on our values and behavior. In natural science, resident forces affect all physical phenomena. For example, a sailboat does not move on its own. Rather, it is moved by the wind’s force on the sail. An old flagpole does not simply fall to the ground. It is acted upon by gravity, rain, wind and a number of other factors.

Human behavior is very similar in that it is a product of many interacting environmental variables. This even applies to socially offensive behavior. It is often a product of personal background/experience, level of nutritional balance during childhood, or a number of other interrelated factors.
